As cliche' as it sounds the fact of the matter is this team is playing in quicksand. Berube has them headed in the right direction, but until the players get the 100lbs off their back(that's in their head), nothing will change. I will remain positive for at least a few weeks after the week of no games.

Makes zero sense, why they came out in the 2nd period and started standing still. Completely stopped skating and competing and got their doors blown off. The Flyers came out with a much better effort in the 3rd, but the Pens were sitting back just waiting for the mistake that would inevitably come.

Giroux... Big contract... Need I say more? They have swung and missed at these signings terribly, by either overpaying or just failing to avoid. I still think and hope giroux comes out of this... Plz God...

But man, it makes no sense that they just can't score. I've never seen anything like this. Most of these losses, it doesn't even look they will ever score three goals in a game.

I've been trying to stay positive look for the silver lining, but after this s*%* tonight I don't know. I was expecting a lot more vs the Pens, that was just sad.

result. 1 goal. tons of blocked and wide shots. several good looks, and some should have been flat out goals.

the overall game was disgraceful given their record, their opponent, and an entire week off ahead of them.

That they literally didn't show up in the 2nd is most disturbing. That can't happen with a team that is struggling as bad as they are.

agreed. you can't put that on the coach. it's not like they're going through the motions and have tuned him out waiting to get fired. i don't have an explanation of how they can show such a total lack of compete.

I hear you. I just don't watch as much hockey league wide as others so I like to ask about players before I advocate a trade or a move. At 29 he seemed like an interesting offensive weapon at the right price. After I posed the question others said he's a pure offensive player so I'd pass.

At this point I would still stay as is and see how things go after the week off.

I think Vanek is a really good goal scorer and of course he would be a nice pickup for any team but I just don't see him being what this team needs in the long run. it would be just yet again another bandaid. the moment they moved Carter and Richards for Simmonds, schenn, voracek and picks (Couturier and COusins) a rebuild was started regardless whether the Flyers want to call it that. Has this team taken a step(s) back? Yes but its going to take some time and patience and the last thing I want to see is another blowing up. a rebuild on the rebuild.
