Glad you got my point.

Ah! My apologies Did you happen to catch Hall's diving glove save on an empty net?

I was being facetious. I think you're right though - it will be difficult for anyone to have what they would want/need.
- hscesq

It's stretch for sure. L.A. and Vancouver had starters coming out of the wazoo but they were both dealt. If Anaheim would even trade within the division Fasth could be good get for them.

Miller and a d-man

Actually just a minute before this blog was posted, I guessed that a Vanek for Yakupov deal could make sense. OF course that would be extension pending. That said, the Oil has to be more patient than allowing one dumb comment to kill off a relationship with an elite talent.

Maybe Yak should spend some time down in the ECHL rather than being traded.

Only reason he's not already there is that he's a first round pick. "Whaaa, I don't wanna skate or hit, whaaaaa!"

Yeah, defense hasn't been our problem so much as garbage goaltending. If you watched the games, I wouldn't have to tell you this. At least 1/3 (if not 1/2) of the goals allowed so far this year were goals that should've and would've been stopped by an average NHL goalie.
- MaximumBone

And according to most EDM fans, it's been the exact opposite in years past, so lets just say goaltending and defense is a big issue. It's no suprise why there are rumors

Come on....really? We have zero use for Vanek. We need a goalie. And Vanek for Yak doesn't come close to fitting the cap.

Lot's of horrible teams right now. I am sure lot's of them have interest in Yak. What would the Flyers give up that wouldn't deplete what they are already trying to refill?

If there was any truth to this I would assume it was more along the lines that they need to change something, and Yakupov may be their best option at doing so. Not necessarily that they want him gone.

C'mon, Ek - stop this nonsense.

He was drafted in 2012.

You really think Edmonton has already given up on him?

Does that really pass the smell test?

The Flyers with interest! SHOCKED that they somehow found their way into yet another Ek rumor. Stay tuned tomorrow for, "Flyers talking to Patriots about Brady", "Flyers in on Debt Ceiling talks" and "Flyers closing in on Guy Lefleur"

- keaner17

Good one! Actually tomorrow is more likely "Rangers join the Yak sweeps"! That will generate a multitude of hits on Flyerbuzz. If all else fails there's always the 6 win Leafs!

It's the kind of thing you can really best glean by actually watching the games.

The Defense hung Dubnyk out to dry in the past, but now that they're not he's not shutting the door like he should be.

No one's changing their tune.

I have no idea where you guys are in coordination with the cap. That close? Hell, we'll give ya Nabakov for him! Sure he's thin on tread, gives up two gloveside goals a game and is tough to understand sometimes, but he's an upgrade for ya!

Doesn't make any sense. Logic would dictate the Oilers trying to get an under-the radar goalie with some chance of panning out. I'd think Bryz would be the most obvious here...worth a shot and costs basically nothing. Otherwise, some backup goalie with potential...think Neuvrith, Fasth, Reimer, Lindback, Elliott. These guys can be had for much less than Yaks, and just may be good enough. Last resort would be a huge deal like Anderson/etc.
