I think your feeling what oiler fans are thinking, Yak has regressed this season, but he was the the #1 pick a year ago. I personally prefer Brodin also tho.
- Djtyczy

Yak has regressed? I think the coach is being a tool personally. He's giving him tougher opponents and less talented line mates, and being asked to play in a role he's not used to. This will help him in the long run, I do t think he is pooptier all of a sudden and neither does anyone else I know.

Patrick , yes, my bad.
Who says we can't get a Goalie by other means?flip Nashvilles 1st and throw in Smid for Lehner ?

- Jeropotato

so we essentially deal
yaks, marincin and smid

for hornqvist, josi and lehner
??

hmmmmmm. interesting. seems like a lot to give up, but it probably does make us a better team which is all that matters.
I dunno

I couldn't really care less but when TSN is reporting that he may be in play they are almost always dead on.
- duckyjets

Okay there bud, more accurate than Ecklund and "almost dead on" are not the same thing. Check out Bob and Darren's twitter over the last year and tell me how much poop they said actually worked out.15%? 20%?
Much more than the 2% you find on this sight.

regressed is a big stretch 7 games in.

this happened to him last year too. he started off beautifully, but went for a good stretch in the middle where he struggled and looked lost some nights. and then ended on fire.

I think his skill set is gonna lend itself to this. he's only played 50some games in the show and now has a new coach to learn. not sure regressed is the right word yet

I would love to have Yaks offense. Exactly what the Wild need. It's everything else about him that turns me off and has me holding onto Brodin. Along with the fact that he is one of the most polished rookie dmen I have seen in awhile
- SotaPopinski

What have you seen that is so horrible? His commits ment to fitness? The aggressive play?the hitting? His Muslim beliefs ? Seriously, any talk of him being a bad team mate or having a poor attitude is a bunch of I gerner malarkey. There is zero talk of that in Edmonton.

you'd take greening over smith?
- deks1

I do like Greening, but Smith is also a player we could use.

no one.

it's just our biggest need at present, and if we're going to be trading an asset like that id hope it's in the same package to acquire the best one possible.

but yes, a hiller type could be had in another package. cant also be dealing hemmer if we're deal yaks tho. just saying

- hugefemale dog77

Agreed. Trade Yak and we need to resign Hemmer.
The thing I like about that deal is it allows us to move one of our few good D (Smid), and Hornqvist is good enough to at top 6 minutes if Hemmer goes down.

I think it's now a fact that Yak is a bust. At least that's the vibe I get from the knowledgable non-Oiler fans who clearly have their finger on the pulse of this team and its players.

If it's all hearsay and inaccurate, then I apologize and hope you guys enjoy your time with Heater and Crybaby Kuemper

I don't see Nashville wanting Schultz or moving Forseberg. Good deal for Edmonton though.

then i failed. n.schultz is just a salary jump for the last year to match josi salary for this season.

This whole thread is stupid, and its all thanks to Exklunds sensationalistic journalism.if the Oilers want a new goalie, they can get one with next years 1st round pick, since everyone expects it to be a lottery pick anyway.

Didn't I propose a similar deal just the other day? Regardless, I'd switch out Smith for Greening as Joensuu has somes unresolved injury issues. We have a few Cs coming up to fight for the 4C spot so I'd rather take a 3LW than a 4C if possible.

In the Wild 'Heatley' based article, I proposed Wild should; nay. NEED to go after Yak.

Nail for say Zucker, Scandella and a pick.

Thoughts?

Vanek is a natural scorer the Wild need, but for basically the same reason Heatley struggles, Vanek is just not the most fleet of foot, which just isn't a great fit for this team IMO.

Which is why the Wild need to do anything and everything to get in on the unlikely Yakupov sweepstakes.

I don't know if its a fail. I just look at the roster and look at the holes and the most expendable players. Check this out ( and keep in mind this is not an UNtouchables list)
Hall Nuge Hemsky
Perron Gags Eberle
Joensuu Gordon _____?
Smyth Acton Brown
J Schultz ______?
Petry Belov
Ferrence Grebs

______?
LaBackup

Basically I see 3 positions that need filling once Gags is back.the players not on the roster are all available for trade. Tell me we can't figure out how to acquire a top D , a Goalie and a 3RW when we have currency in the form of Yak, nurse, Klefbom, Smid, n Schultz, lander , Omark, Hartikainens rights, Marincin, Gernat and Landers potential? Don't forget draft picks!

Hard to put value on a young player. The potential is there and there is little doubt he's going to score a lot of goals in this league. I guess it has as much to do with what a team is willing to spend as it does the price the Oilers Management puts on him. If I were to do a trade proposal I would target a team starved for offence so here goes:
To Nashville:
Nail Yakupov, Martin Marincin and a 2nd round pick
To Edmonton:
Roman Josi, Michael Hornqvist and a 1st round pick.

Holy cow, Nash wins that deal.

You figured it out, good for you.So if no GM would trade something like that why should the Oil?
- Jeropotato

It doesn't matter why they would, because they currently are shopping Yak around, hence this entire post. Also was stated on TSN
