Yakupov stock has dropped dramatically mostly because of how Eakins has handles him.

If you want to trade the guy you don't sit him as a healthy scratch for 2 games.

Other teams see this and right away think that there must be something wrong with his attitude.

- duckyjets

no. that's what you think. or what you hear the media spew.

nhl gms see this kind of thing with young players all the time. and im certain they're far less likely to jump to these types of conclusions.

he was playing badly, so Eakins felt sitting him gave the oilers the best chance to win. far from the first, nor will he be the last great young player to be benched. what are we even discussing??

1) Caps got raped in that deal so it is a poor example as a realistic expectation.
2) Hemsky has a much larger injury history and makes slightly more than Erat
3) The trade resulted in a deal falling through last minute at the deadline and Wash making a panic trade.

Hemsky was never worth as much as Oilers fans wanted, which is why he was never moved.

- Meeqsb

Some Oiler fans over value Hemsky, most non-Oiler fans under appreciate the player. His true value lies somewhere in the middle. Unless you followed Hemmers career closely like most Oiler fans, you only know of his injury history, and write him off as soft. He might not be durable, but he plays a gritty game, has sickening talent, but has never had the opportunity to play with a legit no1 shoot first Center and left winger.
I personally would have no problem with the Oilers resigning him if:
A) he signed for a reasonable 3.5 mill /yr contract
B) he was played on the top 2 RW spots
C) we had a good 2-way 3rw on the roster to fill I. For Hemmer when he got hurt

In fact, because we have Hemsky , I think we can move either YAk or Ebs , but only if we had a deal that helped the team get wins overall.

Not sure how other teams actually feel.

I couldn't really care less but when TSN is reporting that he may be in play they are almost always dead on.

Yea you dont need yak anyways, Vanek is gunna sign in minny as a UFA. He went to college there and he was a legend, his best friend and his kids's best friends are the pominvilles, and you have a great team with lots of young talent.
- Djtyczy

I think so many people are expecting it to happen that someway, somehow it won't
And we have a competitive team with a lot of unproven talent. I am not as high on Fletcher as some

Hey Jero. What up.

Not sure some guys get logic here. They seem to forget about the cap, max # of contracts, ufa status and other poop when they post. And completely forget about what the other side actually needs....

I'm just a bit spooked of making a trade for Lehner.just over a year ago the Sens went and got Bishop. I understand the reasoning of keeping Lehner in the AHL at the time and from what your saying it paid off. I think we can get goaltending for draft picks so I'm not too keen on moving Yak straight up for him. Now if the Sens throw in Greening I would be very interested.

What kind of players do you think the oilers should get in return?

A solid Dman (not super star but maybe top 3), A strong 3rd line winger to take his place and possibly a prospect or pick.

Or go the Starting goaltender plus a little bit route?

Edit- not saying Miller is close to Yak specifically but more what would you be looking for?

- Meeqsb

Hard to put value on a young player. The potential is there and there is little doubt he's going to score a lot of goals in this league. I guess it has as much to do with what a team is willing to spend as it does the price the Oilers Management puts on him. If I were to do a trade proposal I would target a team starved for offence so here goes:
To Nashville:
Nail Yakupov, Martin Marincin and a 2nd round pick
To Edmonton:
Roman Josi, Michael Hornqvist and a 1st round pick.

I didn't say that there's no chance he gets moved.

although I will say, I don't see how you can claim theyre always dead on. there's hardly any evidence to support this claim. they throw stuff against the wall just like everybody else.
the media knows only what the gm's want them to know.
tsn has reported a done deal a little earlier than most I guess. I can agree to that though.

but anyway, I commented on the fact that u said gm's will think he's a problem case or has attitude problems because he's been benched.
this has no basis in fact whatsoever

Lmao so you want Yak? No GM would trade something like that away, which is why it would most likely be a package deal for Yak.

Dmen are also iffy as to how they will turn out.

- Meeqsb

You figured it out, good for you.So if no GM would trade something like that why should the Oil?

Its making Coachs and Management worry so maybe the fans should be a little more concerned?

Most fans would argue they should have. Its not so much back up but the age range you are looking for.

If you are looking for a young goalie to build a team around, Lehner is really one of the best options currently. There are others but they are still prospects.

You can go older and look at Reimer.

If you are looking for a starting goalie, Miller is probably the best option. Possibly Ana goaltender as well or a goalie from the blues with elliot most likely being the one available.

None of this necessarily having anything to do with Yak though.

- Meeqsb

If the question of who the best goalie available is than maybe it is Miller. But all things considered he is not a good fit for Edmonton, and we wouldn't get great value in the trade.

no one.

it's just our biggest need at present, and if we're going to be trading an asset like that id hope it's in the same package to acquire the best one possible.

but yes, a hiller type could be had in another package. cant also be dealing hemmer if we're deal yaks tho. just saying
