C'mon, Ek - stop this nonsense.

He was drafted in 2012.

You really think Edmonton has already given up on him?

Does that really pass the smell test?

- Atomic Wedgie

I will say this, EDM has been bad for far too long. Yak wasn't drafted by MacT and he has been getting 3rd line minutes or being benched. Considering they can't really fire Eakins after they just got him and Perron is doing so well it doesn't surprise me AT ALL that they would be shopping him.

Oiler fans are going to be really unhappy because their value on their own players is completely unrealistic.

a second round draft pick is all he is worth...if that, chalk up another bonehead top 5 pick to the oilers.

Oilers fans would be kidding themselves lol. I wouldn't personally take a chance on Yak as it would be too much of a risk. He the type of players avs could use as a sniper but our team is doing really well atm and we just spent the past 5 years trading away all of our players with personality issues. Mackinnon will be 10x the player Yak will be imo.

I just think the deal I offered was fair given it addressed EDM's issues in a top goalie prospect, a top defensive dman with size who plays a shutdown game, physical 2nd/3rd liner who can help them now to take yaks place and a 2nd. All being around the same Cap going back and forth. I think its one of the better offers thrown out so far.

I can see why the oilers would ask for a ton in return but atm he doesn't look as appealing unless a GM is really trying to make a move to save his rear.

Oh, I agree with you, Yak is nothing close to MacKinnon. But to listen to these Oiler fans with these unrealistic thoughts on what they are going to get for Yak is pretty laughable.
If they want to land a goalie like Anderson, it will cost them Yak. If they want to land someone like Lehner, it might cost them Yak + at this point.

Oiler fans are hoping to rob someone like Devils did Canucks, or Leafs did Kings. Well, good luck with that - every team is looking for that type of trade. Banking on it happening is stupidity. Oilers will miss the playoffs again and again because they are too stubborn to do what is necessary to get there.

Losing culture in Edmonton will continue.

Yakupov for Hamilton straight up if Boston.

Yakupov for Gorges, Fucale and a pick if Montreal.

And the Leafs are going to coming crashing to earth because they are playing poopty despite the record. Even their own coach's, management and the players are worried about it.

Everyone will have their own opinions, so i generally just post my own and then will respond to any one replying to mine. Granted GM's are people too, just know far more than most fans. Everyone has their own opinions on players too and its not uncommon for people to have hometown bias when it comes to their own teams. Its usually best to try and keep it simple imo.

- We know the oilers have been AWFUL to start the year. They are just giving up too many goals.

-We know they just hired a new coach so a change at that position is unlikely.

-We can say that Yak has been generally played on the 3rd line or scratch and should most likely have a bigger role than that.

-We know that MacT isn't afraid to make trades and shake up his team as well not seeming very interested in the wait and develop approach.

-We also know that the Oilers have a majority of their core players signed to big deals and Perron has been playing quite well.

Looking at this, it makes a lot of sense that Yak could be dealt. So instead of randomly demanding each teams top player for him, try and narrow down what teams would be interested in making a move for him and what players might make sense to be moved. If you look at similar deals such as Seguin, Kovi, Hossa , ect you might get a good feel for what might happen.

Thats just how I see it.

Cooshie just being a Richard as usual, but no your offer is not even close. We don't want a goalie prospect. We would want someone to play NOW. We have better D prospects than Siemens on the way. And we are up against the max # of contracts. Cant take 3 back for one.

If that's what they're getting for Yak because his value has apparently dropped that low, isn't it obviously the stupidest move on the planet to trade him right now?

Not to mention I wasn't even taking a shot. What little I do know is from the media which IS a shot. Edmonton doesn't deserve a player with that kind of attitude if it is indeed true.

That is all very fair and I was pretty much thinking the same thing. The max contract issue isn't too big of a deal because Oilers could just throw in AHL players to even it out.

I don't think the Avs are a good trading partner for this circumstance, I was having fun and trying to make the most realistic deal which I feel I did a fairly good job at.

Why exactly? Yakupov played essentially 2nd/3rd line minutes last year and it worked great. Seguin played several years of 2/3 minutes in Boston and it wasn't inappropriate. Same with Staal in Pittsburgh.

Notice that those two were eventually traded, but A) it wasn't an egregious use of them while they were with their original teams and B) it wasn't 55 games into their NHL career!

I figure the return for Yakupov would be slightly less than that which Seguin was dealt for. Probably a top 6 guy and some good but not spectacular prospects.
