so your answer is no they wouldnt trade Reimer for Dub? - senstroll
Side trades happen all the time, but if they are looking to significantly upgrade that position then Reimer is not on their radar after 5 games.

we arent trading reimer or bernier we need both to be competitive. and (frank) the oilers we dont need to help them out by trading them a goalie anyway. - MetroidPrime
Exactly.
Its 6 games into the f'n season.....we simply are not trading Reimer for a crappy back up goalie. |

It's hard to believe that Bernier isn't a Oiler today....Really cant understand why they didn't land him last summer.. - Fruitcakenipple
Same thing with Schneider. LA didn't want him in the west. Took a lesser offer to get him to the east.
Leaf fans need to start looking at any trade from both sides. All these deals where you give up spare parts and the Oil give you great assets are ridiculous.
First off the Oil are up against the contract limit. Any trade for Reimer would have a goalie going back. We don't need Gardiner. I truthfully do not see any deal here. As was said by a Leaf fan in the Oiler thread, trade the Leafs and Oilers Goaltending this season and the records are probably reversed. |

so you will learn what you need to know in the next 8 games that you couldnt in the past 10 years.

From what I heard the Oilers gave the coin per year and the leafs gave the term but the overall contract money was essentially the same. - Morris
Ya not sure how it went...Just some have been saying the Oilers need someone like Clarkson, the thing is they tried to land him... |

Exactly.
With their garbage defense, the oil with have to part ways with one of their young forwards to snag a bonafide number 1 starter.
Although Reimer is good.....he still has some questions. |

Nonis will say "no".
MacT is probably offering the usual, Hemsky, Klefbom... Smid... Blah!
Every team GM is saying "Call me when you are ready to give up one of your first round picks".
Nonis is in nooooo rush. I'm sure he won't blink unless he gets a GREAT offer even if it means packaging Reimer with others. - Captain_Quiffe
Fair enough. Notice I said specifically that the Oilers have either high value assets or low value ones. No one is trying to scam anyone here. |

Its a yes or no question.
Do you think Edmonton would trade Dubnyk for Reimer straight up right now?

Yes
But TO can't because of the cap. And they wouldn't. Nothing in it for them to do it. |

They need to work on team defense and team play, the past 3 years their kids have learnt nothing about it. |

And yet la tried to trade him to minny.
Sounds like bs to me. |

Ya i guess thats the case...
The Leafs dont need to make a trade at this point...I'm sure Nonis would listen to offers but unless someone willing to overpay for Reimer he will remain a leafs.. |

Getting offers for him and trying to trade him somewhere are not the same thing. Take as many offers as you can and drive up the price. |

That would make the most sense, they have to make sure one of them can play atleast 40 games in a season. |

Yeah they did pursue him hard. In the end it's a no brainer for him to choose a team like the Leafs that has almost as young a core but that actually made the playoffs.
Would have been interesting to see the Oilers squad that MacT tried for...
Schneider, Clarkson, Coburn. Could he have pulled them all off? |

Perhaps you misread my quote, where it said "la tried to trade him to minny".
Where do you see that they got offers from minny? The rumors was that la wanted Charlie coyle out of minny to trade bernier there. Not a minny offer, an la request.
So it seems as though la may not have been as keen as you seem to think abou ending him only east. |

Some reports say that MacT was fumed and thought the 9th was way less than what they wanted from the Oilers.

No they didn't. They asked for the first, plus 2 more assets. Oil wouldnt go that high. If it was just the first I bet Schneider would be an Oiler today. |

Should be interesting to see who pans out best amongst Horvat, Nurse and Schneider. Their futures are kind of interconnected now. |

I heard a rumor that Minny called LA, and left a voice message, La then called back.
Which rumor should we believe? |
