Upgrade yes probably not a first required
But shouldn't you be going for the best available? Whoever you think that is.
Philly has wasted some good talent by not getting it right - Rang
It's hard to believe that Bernier isn't a Oiler today....Really cant understand why they didn't land him last summer.. |

Colin, if it wasn't for your great writing abilities, I wouldn't enjoy you at all. Covering both the Flames and the Leafs? lol You make it enjoyable covering two teams I'm not very fond of! |

it really wasnt that dreamy dude
think about it, white, hagman, stajan and mayers got phaneuf...your telling me that reimer, gardiner, kulemin wouldnt have a chance at eberle?
3 quality players, 2 of which are just before their prime, and kulemin has scored 30 before, but would be a solid fit in edmonton cause they have no players like him.
im not saying i even want to do the trade, i was just poking around, but dream on? i dunno about that. - big_dion
I would say that guy who wears number six is pretty similar to Kulimen but I don't think the trade offer was that lop sided at all. Look at what Kovalchuk fetched with on year left on his deal. Most times players don't get the value in a trade we think they should. |

yeah I dont think the Oilers want to give Bryz-no-glove a chance...you would only think that they want a solid option between the pipes. |

but they aren;t willing to take a step back to take two steps forward.
the oiler develop players and hope it works. the leafs develop and trade assets to get better and find the right mix. |

but the oilers don;t have those prospect.. either untouchables or in the ahl or junior....... didn't fit the kings needs either. |

the oilers better just stand pat. Hold onto all those untouchables. Dont make any bold moves..just in case you get better. |

Leafs gave up a 3rd line winger, backup goaltender and a pick...
The Oilers couldn't match/better that??? |

More or less agree, though I think they've reached a point where they need to start finding some real success at this point. Cant stand pat and expect wins to come your way on their own. Leafs and Oilers could make for interesting trade partners... |

Yeah, Reimer could be interesting, but the Oilers have few "middle grade assets" on their roster. Either they've got their young players that are likely to remain their core, or they've got low-value veterans. Or, picks and prospects.
So if Reimer happened, it'd be picks and prospects. - Morris
Makes sense. Which is why it probably doesn't happen. Reimer is too useful. Maybe in Feb though.
Do the Oilers go after a vet like Hiller? |

thats easy to say after the fact. They looked like they had capable g'tending. LA needed a few specific things like a backup (cheap and somewhat decent) and someone to keep salary to make it work.
I am just glad Nonis stepped up to grab him.

frattin is playing on second line from what i saw early this season.... and both are young and have upside.... the oilers couldn;t offer the same quality of players. who would the offer to play wing and as a backup. |

truth is, oilers fans deserve more than just a first pick and a poop season.
sometimes you gotta give to get, im not saying TO is the only trading partner...but i sure as hell woudlnt go the bryzgalov route! |
