This is the gospel I've been trying to spread, but oddly enough people don't seem to take kindly to me knocking on their doors to tell them how putting their faith in the Leafs will be their salvation. Ah well, I'll keep trying.

You guys are totally right...but you must pay attention to these areas of the game just the same. Just because it seems like a small problem to have (wide shot margins), its a problem just the same and you'd hate for it to perhaps escalate wherein players begin allowing more and more shots on net becaue they confide too much on their goalies.

Keep the shots to a minimum, off to the side, and block those down the middle...reduce the odds and keep pluggin away

Trade scenario

Reimer + Kadri for RNH + 1st rd pick

gives Edm a number 1 goalie, who has time to grow up with the team. Also gives Edm a centre with talent for scoring and passing/creativity. Someone Eakins is familiar with and has a good relationship with.

Toronto receives RNH, to replace Kadri as a playmaker on the second line, has 1st line centre potential long term, and a high pick as Toronto cannot afford to take on extra salary.

yikes...not sure how Carlyle would do with RNH tbh...guy has tremendous skill dont get me wrong, but Carlyle needs physical guys out there to play his style. Especially considering that line would then be Lupul - RNH - Raymond......Kadri plays with a lot more grit than people give him credit for.

The line would actually be Lupul - RNH - Clarkson.

Both Lupul and Clarkson bring grit and net presence and both are proven finishers.
Carlyle likes a mix of brawn and finesse. Selanne is a perfect example.

All these trade scenarios for wingers don't help the Leafs. We're pretty set for our top 6 wingers. If you have a chance to score a top line Centre, you take it

There has never been a guy with a hyphenated name (first or last) who has made it to the Hockey Hall of Fame.

For that reason alone, I reject your trade proposal.

Uh, take away Edmonton's first.

Even then, I seriously doubt that offer even tempts them.

Probably not, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't tempt them. I see Kadri scoring 70 points this year in a 2nd/3rd line PP2 role. He provides more grit than RNH ever will, and Reimer makes Edmonton a better team.

People need to recognize the difference between a shot and a scoring chance. The Leafs get just as many scoring chances as anyone else and convert on more than most. That's what's important.

Point being, in reference to this discussion, that the oil are willing to trade 'Nudge for that return (or any other return). In all likelihood - no. They most likely wouldn't want to do that trade because its too risky.

I agree, which is why we should not want this trade any way, Kadri's grit fits more with our system and Reimer is playing great. We don't need RNH at this time, especially for the price it would cost.

Kadri may provide more grit, but I think RNH will be the better two-way centre. It would be great, and obivously worth keeping Kadri if he pots 70 points this year.

Agreed. Top line C's cost too much, and the quality of the top 6 wingers are compensating for the lack of a true #1C. If anything is done, I'd still like to see a top 4 shutdown D who can play those critical protect the lead at the end of the game minutes so Dion doesn't have to.

LOL
You are kidding right?
RNH just signed a long term deal.
Toronto does not have the cap space for that trade.
Edmonton would be complete morons to do that trade.

Reimer is not being trade right now.
