If the reason for sitting them has to do with their play in the past game or two, then I don't see any problem. If it's for seniority reasons, then I'm not thrilled with the decision. The kids need to see real playing time to develop. PMB, Boulton, Carkner, etc are all vets. We know what to expect from them. Am sure Garth/Cappy put a nice spin on it but most people know when they're being B.S.'d. - jmo16
Yes, absolutely nothing. Both Donovan and Nelson have played better than all of the players mentioned above, makes zero sense. Capuano looks like a fool once again. No rhyme or reason and no brains. |

If Nelson was really struggling out there, it'd be one thing. You'd have your usual two camps of "let the kids play" and "sit him if he's hurting the team."
To the contrary, he was benched after a solid start, and is being sat solely because he's a rookie. I said before Chicago that it's not the worst thing in the world for a rookie to watch a game from above as a learning experience. Don't see much point in sitting him again though...now you're just going to screw with his confidence and consistency for no reason. - UIF
I've never been big on making kids watch games. To me, the press box is good for two types of players, guys who've been dogging it and subs. I doubt you'd get too much positive feedback on the benefit of spending the evening in the press box from many of those kids. Playing experience is what they need, if not here, then in the AHL. There's a real problem if we sign a couple of players out of the bargin bin who manage to gain more opportunity than 'the future'.

By the way, make sure to do a shot every time Butch says "left wing lock" tonight if you want to miss work tomorrow. - UIF

The one thing is if any of those players were playing even close to good then Capuano might have a legit argument here. The FACT that all of these guys have been sucking it up makes this even more moronic. On what basis do you play PMB or even Regin over Nelson? OK, how about Hickey, Strait, Carkner, or even AMAC over Donovan? You can't really. There is no debating it. Just makes absolutely no sense. |

I can argue for Strait, Hickey or possibly Amac given the roles they fill but Carkner? |

Great Job by Crappy once again being obsessed with garbage waiver wire players and having them play over our so called "future" no wonder Nino wanted out, let the kids play. Start a "FIRE CAPPY" chant tonight at the game if you are going. |

Still chant, the fact they he is scratching them both is mind blowing. Especially for Carkner and then lets PMBum come right back in on the 2nd line. The guy has done nothing all year |

I got tickets to go see the Islanders play in Buffalo (4 rows up) on April 13th. Is it safe for me to wear my islander jersey? |

I'm not saying I don't agree that I'd rather have Nelson in, but it does sound silly to say that only 4 games into the season! |

Hate games against winless teams...they always win....or a goal away from a milestone or and rookies first goal of career...usually money against the isles.... |

All you need to do is score two goals and it's a win. You guys can do that right? BTW what's up with Moulson. Tell that kid to have a 3 point night tonight, would ya? |

Lineup decisions are maddening. But credit where it's due, he usually has the team buying into a message and style of play. When they're playing an up-tempo style with a relentless forecheck, that takes a level of commitment that players who have tuned out the coach probably don't have. So, there's that. - UIF
I haven't seen the forecheck yet this season. |

I have more of an issue with the defenseman sitting than the forward, and I think you know why that is....SOMEONE has to play defense around here, so it might as well be a rookie, since the others aren't all that good... |
