I guess my point was, if Isles had a few very-good to star-like players on team who can be game changers instead of average or slightly above average players on roster.

Only Matt Moulson is almost a star-like player because of his consistency of producing goals, but unfortunately he is 1 dimensional.

Question; If you are a coach of another team, who on the Isles besides JT are you afraid of beating you?
Now there is a possibility some of our prospects like Strome, Nelson, etc might have that star-like ability, but for now, not yet....

they have proven they have enough talent for the opposition to take into consideration when preparing to play the islanders.

A team struggling for offense, I would trade PMB and De Haan for a top four dman
- mighty13duck

And that top 4 Dman that you would get back is Strait or Hickey...come on be serious here!

I would put more consideration of making sure Moulson is not parked in front of net before those 2 players

I have noticed it a few times already this season that D-man sit back a little further when grabner is on the ice as not to get burned to badly

Garth has to start somewhere. Start with those guys and ask around, I bet Lou would be able to do it. He cant stay doing nothing every year. I have seen plenty of GMs give up very little to get a significant piece

nobody is denying Grabner's speed, if he became consistent on finishing his breakaways or shoots more and goals are being produced, then YES he becomes that type of player you watch out for. But he is not consistent or produces consistently for now.

hopefully he will become that player...

Is Matty Moulson the only one who knows how to score on shootout? Frans needs to keep practicing that was his specialty 2 years ago.

I wouldn't be surprised if we lose the rest of our shootouts unless we play the devils

Grabner. His speed is a killer. Say what you will about his breakaway percentages but the guy's speed makes him a force and arguably the most dangerous penalty killer in the league. Defensemen have to account for him and stay responsible at the blueline for fear that he can turn a bumbling of a point set up into a breakaway. There isn't a team in this league that wouldn't take him.

The top 3 teams of each division make playoffs? How are we in 9 th then? Only Carolina and Pitt are ahead of us. The NHL standings are off

77 goals in 225 games...consistent on breakaways or not, the guy is the fastest skater in the NHL and scores around 28 goals per season, often playing limited minutes. I'd say that's noteworthy

It amazes me how few of our guys try to deke. I'm so sick of seeing them try cheesy five-hole shots. JT's choice of moves last night was awful...swinging wide left makes playing the angle easier for Miller since he has less net to cover, so shooting five-hole at a time where his pads will be naturally closer is a bad choice. Frans needs to just stick to his one move. Most goalies know it's coming but still can't stop it.

Again, not denying his speed.

If the Ducks called Snow and asked for Grabner & 1st pick for Ryan, would you make that trade?

In a nano-second I will....

No team is trading top 4 of anything this early in the season. I highly doubt that since the rangers are 1-4 they are going to start having a fire sale. Usually teams will look internally first.

Right, if you read the rest of my post I said I didn't agree with especially if he's going to only play 4 minutes. Just didn't think it was crazy or nuts to have him in the lineup last night.

you know youre being unrealistic when....

when a player has 7 points in 6 games, is on pace for 95.666666666 points and you are complaining about his play...

Hamonic is handicapped by his defensive partner. I'd love to see him operate with a legit top 4 dman. Hickey's problem is he's simply too undersized. He has natural talent but gets bumped off the puck way too easily. As someone who played a few decades on defense and coached for years, I love Hickey's positioning and grit, but it's more will than brawn.
- keaner17

I disagree. I'm going to get slammed on this but AMac has been our best defensemen this year. Hamonic has been inconsistent this year. Viz sucks. Strait can go back to the AHL, Carkner,Donovan and Hickey are what they are, bottom 6 guys.

Frans Neilsen, Grabner etc and more importantly how do you defend a team that has 4 lines that can chip in goals and be speedy or physical? The Isles have a very deep lineup of forwards. They might lack the one top end guy still maybe

Likely yes...however this isn't fantasy hockey on ESPN. There are things that Grabner does that Ryan cannot and vice versa. To me, outside of JT, Grabner is the single most important player on this team. So if you dealt him and a first rounder for Ryan, you're team might not be any better than before. Sure, you've obtained a dynamic player, but you're losing one as well who impacts different areas of the game.
