That means around this time next week devils have to make a move to get back down to 23 when they activate clowe

Won't they likely send Gionta down? |

This is Teddy's chance he is supposed to be playing on a line with Zajac and Ryder the next two games. We will see how long that lasts and he is stapled to the bench. |

You don't think Lou has smartened up since the Urbom debacle ? I also think that Oats played a huge role in that and it would't have surprised me if he was keeping an eye on what Lou was doing knowing that trick he likes to pull with waiting till the last second to waive guys. |

I don't know why we didn't claim jones off waivers when edmonton waived him he would be the hardest working player on our team and has hit 20 goals ones. the guy forechecks like a crazy person and isn't slow as sin. |

Has there been any change? Larsson and Josefson stlll get scratched. Our quartet of useless defenders still see the bulk of ice time. Merrill and Gelinas are still in the AHL. |

No. Just look at the players he thought happened to be more valuable than Urbom. They're some of the worst defenders I've ever seen.
Again, worst defense in the NHL. |

Yea but that doesn't mean is was ok with losing Urbom for nothing and that he would risk losing JJ or Teddy for Gionta. I don't see it I think he moves one of them for something before he possibly loses them for nothing. |

Yea but he would at least be usefull and wouldn't be someone just sitting around wasting. IMO it brings speed into the line up that Pete would actually use instead of bringing in Teddy or JJ for 6 minutes I would rather see Jones for 12 then those 2 for 6 minutes a game. |

You just have more faith in Lou than I do. I've lost a lot the last few seasons. The Cup run hasn't fooled me. Even the trade for Schneider is questionable since it's Lou we're talking about.
Why?
Cory is a UFA in another 2 seasons I believe, and we all know how Lou waits until the last possible moment to negotiate. Combine that with the fact the team may be on the downward swing the next few years, no 1st rounder this year (which is shaping up to be a good one), and it's very very likely Cory walks from NJ. Which would mean we blew two 1st rounders in a row for 3 years of Cory & Matteau ( ).
The trade for Cory was an "ooh ahh" moment, but if we look forward, it could very well set NJ back even further.
Only time will tell. I'm sure some fans will lay into me for this view because the consensus is that it was a genius flawless move among the more homeristic NJ fans, but it's a very realistic and possible view. It's also possible that he re-signs for the longterm. If he doesn't.....DOOMED?
Combine that dire but possibly realistic future along with some of his recent signings & my view of Lou isn't as rose-colored.
I'm thankful as a NJ fan for what he has given us, but deep inside as an objective fan, I think it's time for someone else. And I think that will depend largely on Cory re-signing or not. |

I think the ownership situation made it really difficult for Lou to negotiate. I got the impression that these owners are open to providing Lou the money without a hassle to sign our guys. So I think it will be much easier to keep some of our guys when it comes to negotiations.
That said, I have been very frustrated with Lou this year. Urbom especially bothered me. Retaining Zid and keeping together this D group that has been nothing short of terrible without even trying to plug in guys like Urbom or Gelinas to inject some energy.
