I know the search never should of ended with Zid for a puck moving defense man. I would of almost rather gave Ryan Whitney or Tom Gilbert a shot over Zid at least they are fresh faces. - blizzzard
Gilbert being a Minnesota native, I wanted to like him when the Wild traded for him.. But he was absolutely terrible in a Wild sweater. Worse of 2 evils? Maybe, but $4.5 million a year for him was attrocious! Whatever way you look at it, Gilbert, Foster, Zidlicky... All 2 or 3 years past their prime. Which is not to say they're too old, but some guys just have a shelf life in this league that doesn't always expire merely due to age. I feel for you NJ fans. Wild finally have a decent defensive corps for the first time in several years and they're still a work in progress... |

What's up with Granlund at one point that kid was the best prospect in the entire world? I like the way Minny is coming together I still don't understand why they aren't better with the players they have I guess it has something to do with Backstrom getting hurt at the worst times? |

Yep! Good questions. Some think it's Yeo. I dunno?! Seems like they're starting to come together with 3 straight wins but nothing seems really solid quite yet.
Granlund is a work in progress. With all the hype and expectations surrounding him last season coming in to his first season he folded under the pressure and the inability to adapt to the North American game and rink size. He's already shown major progression so far this season though.
Still up in the air as to whether he'll be the star player that he was hyped to be, but he's making progress. |

Seems to been a common theme around the league not enough coaches good with rookies they all want veteran teams but there are a lot of rookies being mis used or young players even. |

Blizz....any chance u caught the Wild game last night? See that Pommer goal on the PP??? 7 tape to tape passes before a pretty shot. Made me sad and jealous. If the Wild don't put up a serious fight this year then they def will next. I think the guys on our PP need to start watching high lites from the Caps and Wild PP. Start taking notes, but the skill level is so drastically different that it probably still wouldn't work. |

Clowe sat out of practice today. Devils said resting but is probably due to the shot on the foot.
Agreed, he has not looked good so far.

I didn't i was just glad we aren't the only winless team yet... And yes that to me is the problem. Transition game is horrible if our face offs where at 55% and we had a solid transition game we would have 3 wins right now. I don't think its as much the forwards not being talented enough even though we don't have a true star but when you look at the fact we have been putting up like 20 shots on net a game you can only imagine how much that would improve if we where getting out of our end cleanly. I don't know how anyone else feels but Salvador and Volchenkov seem to be able to win puck battles in our end but they can't do anything afterwards. They both either wire it off the glass and out and the forwards are to slow to win the race to the puck and its back in our end or they cough it right back up to them just outside the blue line and they swarm back in. If those two areas improved even a little I think we would start seeing closer to 25-30 shots a game from our forwards and in turn better scoring chances. |

I thought he looked really strong that game to. He can be a force we have seen it and the guy has already proven to be pretty clutch we just need to get him comfortable as he is one of our better players. |

He's part of it. Either way, his possession numbers have been garbage. - Todd.Cordell
He's declined IMO, Wilson made a great move dealing him and Murray last season and replacing them with cheaper, faster and just as good(if not better players).
Clowe doesn't suck now, but he's no longer the same player he once was in his prime in SJ IMO. The numbers suggest so.
What's up with Larsson? I have him in my keeper pool.
And I miss Schneider. |

I think a lot of people are starting to ask that. I also think a lot of people forget he is 20 and was never supposed to be a 40-60 pts d man but he needs to find a way to stay in the line up every night. |

Nobody outside of some homers on here are really surprised by this. These types of players don't get better after they hit 30yrs old. They go down hill fast. The body can't handle the abuse and he is doesn't have the speed to keep up. No doubt in mind they buy him out after this year. He will then sign with a contender for right around 1 million and play 4th line minutes until they put him out to pasture. |

Valerie Nichushkin is a healthy scratch tonight. I wonder what happens there? He told teams it's NHL or KHL. |

I said all my f words and grief when he was signed. Now the milk is already spilled.
Rolston was a better signing than this; at least he could skate and score a goal or two. Clowe can do neither unless he's wide open on a power play that has players that can hit a tape-to-tape pass. Those are nowhere to be seen on this line-up. As for whether he can make the other players two inches taller... I'm still waiting for that.
He's a third line plug and someone who you can stick in front of the net on the power play, and a very long and financially painful commitment. One of the worst contracts I've ever seen. |

Hope we are the last team. Anything to piss this team off and make them play with some sense of desperation. |

At the deadline:
Ryder and Jagr to contender for a 2nd round pick. Even if they are rotated in and out of the lineup on a healthy scratch basis, they are still good depth to have in the playoffs. - TheJerseyDevil1
I stopped reading after you said that Ryder should be rotated in and out of the lineup....you sir, are out of your tree |
