What makes you think Myers would bounce back in Philly?
- Feanor

Personally, I like the idea of buying low on what could be a promising asset and I think Myers fits that criteria.

Actually I think Buffalo, if they'll trade with us, presents a better fit. I'd trade just about anybody off this team for Tyler Myers.
- Tomahawk

That's fine -- I really don't have a preference from where an infusion of skill would come from, to be honest. Incremental upgrades, like Gustafsson playing, make the team look a bit different.

Again, it doesn't have to be a blockbuster -- as you said, Ville Leino for Olle-Kristian Tollefsen wasn't anybody's idea of important.

Tonight and Thursday will be interesting. If we get railed in both, and we continue to not score...I'd hope, it that were the case, we would do something.

With an ankle injury and a broken leg in the rear view, one could apply the 'injury history' label to TyMy.

Don't we already have Myers in Coburn...and again in Morin?

Perhaps Meszaros was being showcased for a trade. Gustafsson played very well in his first game in Detroit, and should have been in the lineup to start the season.

If players were being sat based on merit of play thus far, L. Schenn would be scratched before Meszaros would. But, with JVR going bananas in Toronto, scratching Schenn doesn't play well.

- PLindbergh31

Schenn has a future here. Mez does not. So wouldn't it make sense to try to get Schenn on track? I don't want to see him out of the lineup at all.

You're going to make Don Cherry cry if you keep posting this....
- johndewar

I wouldn't want him to ruin his suit. Grandma Cherry really wanted to convert them back to drapes when he's done with them.

I think Myers has better upside physically and offensively than Coburn.

And Morin is gonna take time. Slow, awful, brutal time.

the Flyers D would be perfect if the league still had clutching and grabbing
- vejim

Typically, the refs let a lot more of the obstruction stuff go in the second half of the season and playoffs.

Yeah, I'm with you there. Sitting a young player like Schenn really doesn't benefit him in any way. Only a 6 game sample this year, so not a huge deal. He played solid hockey last year. The quote from Dreger was concerning though.

I would he happy to trade for Myers if they were really selling low on him. But I doubt Buffalo will. They have more to gain by hanging on to him.

And how did he force them to buy him out? Being old and injured isn't really his fault.
- Jimmygrazz

His cap hit is Holmgren's fault but we won't go there. They had multiple trades lined up for him last year at the Trade Deadline and he refused to waive his NMC. That was his right, which Holmgren gave to him, but i don't have to like it.

If he had accepted a trade the flyers would have :

A) More assets in terms of picks or players.
B) One remaining compliance buyout.

Dreger on breaking news I believe... Dreger on player evaluations? Unless it's from Homer/Hexy/Pryor or Snider's mouths, I wouldn't take it too seriously.

I gotta say, a lot of Flyers fans frustrate the hell out of me. Let's female dog about the team not being patient and trading away young players but yet throw every young player's names out there in so called trade proposals. JVR was the whipping boy the moment he went back to UNH but yet people moan that he was traded. Now onto Homer. He took the worse team in hockey and rebuilt it quickly. Yes, they are down right now but once he traded frick and frack, no matter what we want to say, the team was in a bit of a rebuild. So let the rebuild play out with the young guys developing. Yes, he has made mistakes and all GM's do and there may be questions about the perception of chasing last year's cup but the last thing I want to see happen is the team change directions yet AGAIN. I'd sooner see them continue to build around this core group. just my .02 cents

Yeah, I'd wait for Bobby Mac to confirm it. Dreger isn't without credibility, but he's definitely a mouthpiece when needed, whether for the BOG or for Nonis.

It wasn't Dreger making an evaluation.

It was Dreger passing along a player evaluation from somebody within the Flyers' organization.

Don't say Leafs fans didn't warn you. You are going to pull your hair out for years with Schenn.

He'll show you tons of promise, but will completely lose his game at times.

He's still incredibly young, though. Too soon to give up on him (or Myers).

If there was some tangible rumor attached to it, I'd be more worried.

It could just be some team official sharing his frustrations about a certain player and it becomes "Schenn is barely NHL worthy" by the time the game of telephone reaches Dreger.

To get Yakupov from Edmonton its going to cost something like Simmonds. Coburn, Laughton and a 2nd. Teams arent going to move highly talented 20 year olds taken 1st overall on the cheap

This doesn't really have anything to do with what we were talking about, I just wanted more background about this test and what it is trying to predict.

• Morin had the highest peak power output on the Wingate bike test at the 2013 NHL Combine, registering 15.8 watts per kilogram of body weight.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/dr...pectdetail.htm?dpid=82285

The Wingate test is believed to show two things: all-out peak anaerobic power and anaerobic capacity.[1] These two values have been reported as important factors in sports with quick, all-out efforts. Short sprinting events rely heavily upon the anaerobic energy pathways during execution[2] which leads to the theories that greater performance in a Wingate test can predict success in these events. This has not been proven, and the more applicable theory would be that improvements in Wingate scores could predict improvements in sprinting times.

Do you buy the argument that Schenn has had less ice time because the Flyers have been playing from behind most of the season?

Call me crazy but I like the direction the team is headed in. I also don't think Giroux and Vorachek will be kept off the scoreboard for the entire year.

I can't wait to see this team playing with some confidence.

- shekkie

The durection we are going is down. Getting worse each year. I'm not a fan of that direction!

Exactly, it's not entirely implausible for somebody saying, "Man, does Luke even remember how to play the game?" on a bad night to become, "A member of Flyers management says he's seriously worried Luke Schenn can no longer player that the NHL level, purple monkey dishawasher."
