I tend to think the finger injury and subsequent lack of preseason games has more to do with it that something Laviolette said 18 months ago. - Feanor
Could be. But he played 3 pre-season games and 6 regular games...he should be good to go. But he also talks about confidence...a player doubting himself is hard to fix. |

People are freaking out because Homer finally stated publicly that Pronger's career is over, not that it really changes anything. |

I see him trying, and trying to do too much on his own. I have questioned the effort level of this team, but will admit many nights Giroux is one of the best one's in this department.
I think its a mix of too much pressure, and having poopty linemates. With Voracek I expect him to get back into form, but the idea of playing him with Simmonds/Hartnell was moronic.
Two guys who cant handle the puck to save their lives. Shut down Giroux and the line is killed. Give G time, he will come around. - flyer_nutter
McGinn up on the first line again tonight...let's hope G gets his first goal. He was definitely taking better shots last game. Sink one, get the ball rolling. |

Get your facts outta here. It's more fun to say he screwed the Flyers. - jmatchett383
I'm sure it's more fun to discount the fact that the article saying that GMs were meeting with Holmgren at the end of February about acquiring Briere and that the concussion happened end of march.
There's plenty of evidence, as shown by the article I posted plus other articles that teams were trying to trade for Briere and that Briere was not interested in leaving Philly before the offseason. This was all well before the concussion.
I don't expect Briere or Holmgren to comment on the matter. Bruins and Montreal wanted Briere in February and the concussion happened at the end of March. There were plenty of trades completed in that time. If Holmgren had offers for Briere (a player he did not plan to bring back) and he didn't ask Briere about his NMC, then he should be fired.
Disclaimer : I will not be producing affidavits or taped recordings, these are just my feelings based on the evidence.

who would you have brought in that was available? - nastyflyergirl
good question
I like Mason Raymond for his speed, and maybe would have given Damien Brunner for his pure skills a shot. I know there are question marks about Brunner.
Overall I think Vinnie was the best player available, and understand why they went with him, but I think maybe it sets B Schenn's development back a bit switching him to wing.
Although I have been pretty happy with Schenn's play so far, he seems the most snakebit with goals but he has been one of the better forwards getting his chances. |

Giroux will be fine, he doesnt have any consistent linemates and no chemistry. This whole team has zero confidence other than Mason and no chemistry. Its a team game. You could put any player in the league in the same position Giroux is currently in and they would not fair any better. Its not like the rest of the team is playing good except Giroux. The whole team cant even barely get a decent opportunity. |

Teams talk about a lot of players with a lot of teams at the trade deadline. It's just kicking tires. When there is an agreed upon deal between two teams, that's when it get's to the serious level. And when a team will go to a player and ask them to waive a movement clause. There is no evidence to support that the Flyers agreed to trade Briere to a team, and the deal was nixed due to Briere refusing to waive his no clause.
