This is just for the sake of conversation. Trust me! The last guy I consider trading is Hall, but McDonagh certainly makes it a possibility in my mind.

:/

I would move anyone else on the roster besides RNH before I even considered trading Hall.

you guys have enough guys that can pass and move the puck...you need a defenseman that is young, can play 30 minutes a night against the best players in the world, and absolutely and totally shut down said players. being able to skate and pass the puck would just be a plus.

hence, mcdonagh.

Nope. It's gotta be McDonagh coming back in any trade for Hall.

maybe...but expect a 7 mil+ per year contract for jones after his ELC. mcdonagh is locked up for 4.7 mil until he's 30

nurse will be a player. jones wouldn't have been the difference this year for the oilers if they had traded up. their biggest issue is that they put the weight of the world on high draft picks. ference was a good start but they should have made a move like that 3 years ago. they need at least 2 more veteran dmen and at least one legit top 6 vet forward. Here's a start.

Eberle, Petry, Klefbom, Dubnyk

Oshie, Polak, Rattie, Elliott

Understandable. My reasoning behind it is we get a #1 Dman along with a possible replacement for Hall. Kreider is a very fast, big-bodied player who just hasn't been able to piece it together in NY yet. He's the kind of player that just seems like he needs a big push before he gets going. Putting him on a line with a guy like Nuge and Eberle may just be that big push.

Besides, it's not like we don't have the offense to replace Hall. Assuming Yak can pull through alright, we have the same type of player as Hall, just on the right side.

Obviously there's some risk behind Kreider, but regardless, we're getting a #1 Dman that comes as a perfect compliment to Petry (our CURRENT #1) and a young powerforward that can play and skate. Then all we do is wait for one of Nurse, Klefbom, or Marincin to develop and we've got our top-4!

If the d pairs consists of (2YEARS) jones nurse schultz klefbom ferance petry marincin.... they would be hard to play against. But that's mostly potential

I can see a big trade like that

You can't be serious. A top line right winger, a competent top 4 Dman, their top D prospect and a goalie who had a .921 save percentage behind the tire fire Oilers D last year

for

A top 6 right winger, whatever the (frank) Hitch has made Polak look like besides a standard bottom pairing Dman, a guy who might be David Perron in 4 years, and a goalie who has floundered everywhere else and even has struggled facing 17 shots a night in Hitch's system.

i think it's a very fair deal for both sides but i'm not sure NY can afford the risk of trading mcdonagh when girardi is an upcoming UFA and staal is the following summer and has a chance to leave for carolina. plus MDZ hasn't exactly taken steps forward every year.

very serious.

oshie is a beast. it's a shake up and an even trade for eberle.
polak > petry. he's a tough guy to play against even before hitch.
elliott is an upgrade on dubnyk.
klefbom was terrible in the preseason. i hope you're not calling him the top prospect. nurse is miles ahead of him and will play next year. klefbom will likely never see nhl ice.

oshie >>> backes and jake allen will probably develop into a goalie that can be mentioned in the same breath as lundqvist, quick, rask, etc.

oshie is a guy that can skate down the wing with the puck, lay the opposing defenseman the fck out, pick the puck back up, skate towards the net again and snipe it bar down.

Elliot sucks. He wasn't good enough in Ottawa. He wasn't good enough in Colorado. He lost his job to Jake Allen last year and almost ended up on waivers and all of a sudden he's good?

He's not good. He's bad but looks good in the best defensive system in the NHL.

I see that as well. Smid, while not a world beater like McD, is a servicable top-4 shutdown guy that is signed for 4 years. He at least provides a little stability lost by trading McD. The difference on offense, however, could prove exponential. Hall was designed to play Eastern Conference hockey. His "river pushing" ability is among the best in the world. He's got elite speed, a wicked wrister, and competitive fire at a VERY reasonable $6 million cap hit. He'd provide a brilliant 1-2 punch along with Nash on the LW. Insulate him defensively with Richards and Callahan and suddenly Vigneault has the offensive horses he's been accustomed to in Vancouver.

good question. i think it's just growing pains adjusting to the new coach but i'm also an optimistic rangers fan.

i like to think that hank loves the NYC lifestyle and has been here with his wife and baby his whole career so it would be tough for him to pick up and move...i also like to think that the rangers have the pieces in place to contend and are just 1 top 6 winger away from really competing for the cup.

i think he ends up re-signing but it's certainly a stressful thought that he might not be on the roster this time next year.

all fans overvalue their own players. st. louis wouldn't make that trade.

the oilers have to trade an upcoming star like eberle or rnh or yak if they are to get better. it's as simple as that. there's too much young talent and not enough of anything else. fans will say no to everything or ask for other team's stars like mcdonaugh which won't happen either if you're a ranger fan unless hall goes the other way.
