Yes your forwards were part of wining that game and they got a help from the Oil Goalie, and your Goalie made one Stop on Arcobello, maybe not a hard shot but if he doesn't stop that shot Oils win,and that's all a team needs ONE BIG SAVE.
- AlEx_OiL

it was 6-5 final. that game wasn't a one big save kinda game. Both teams should have helped their goalies out.

Shots on goal mean nothing...quality scoring chances is a more telling stat.
- Pen15

When a team have a bad goalie any shot even from the other end is a quality scoring chance, you get it?

Of course you are. I'm not discrediting that point - it's very valid. But the team defence has been a chronic problem for more than just the first 6 games of the year. Goaltending is just one dimension to that.

Put it this way, Lundqvist in an Oil jersey still doesn't get this team into the playoffs.

- Pen15

Of course u chose him.

I wont say playoffs by any stretch. But we have a few more wins with good goaltending.

It's clear that the trolls want us to admit the TEAM is terrible.
But it aint gonna happen. Cause they aint.
Many issues, but again, with even average tending, we're .500 and an average team at present. Not 1-4-1

A solid goalie alone won't take the oil to the next level...that's my point.
- Pen15

No but it is the number 1 weakness on this team, and top priority.

Might have been discussed already, but anyone know who Rich Smith is? (@ALLsportsINTEL). Unlikely, but he's reporting a rumour of Yak and Hemsky for Simmons, Coburn and either Couturier or Laughton. Thoughts?

I doubt that deal because there's not good goalie coming back.

Average doesn't get you into the playoffs...it gets you into mediocre land - graduated from pathetic...

And for the record, I'm a leaf fan, I know exactly what I'm talking about in terms of mediocrity

Top priority should be what you can control. You can't control getting a #1G right now unless you're willing to part with one of your top 3 guys...

What you CAN control right now is getting the young kids to buy into a system that preaches defensive responsibility .

It would shock me to my core if Holmgren did that. Id hate to give up Yakupov but I would do that without any issue.

While this is ABIT of an exaggeration, your point is still valid.
Dubs has let in some ridiculously bad goals. And i could live with that if he was still making some big saves and keeping us in games. But hes not.

Its not about quality really cause he's let in both weak and quality chances.
EVERY shot is an adventure right now.

There were several douches. I admit my douchery, but it wasn't ban worthy by any stretch of the imagination, and if you feel it was, there shouldnt be more than 2-3 left posting here.

Long term issue. getting even average goaltending to get some wins and some confidence actually can be fixed immediately. This is not hard to understand. Nobody thinks we can get a #1 goalie with a magic wand but competent is do-able and absolutely a top priority right now. Nobody will buy into poop when half the shots directed at their net just float by.

Agree that's why if the Oil were to make a deal for Lehner it will have to be Lehner + but that's a trade for Eberle or Yak.

IMO Simmonds is a perfect fit for both team and player and he fits in with there exact culture of being tough and hard to play against. It's pretty much the Same thing as Lucic
