You cant deny that the main problem right now is the goaltending. It's hard to work on the other areas of improvement when its obvious that between the pipes there is no confidence.
- TheTaoOfSemenko

this is really the crux.

our defence is poor and we have some guys that aren't playing well etc etc. but we still coulda had some wins under our belt if our goaltending was even average.

I don think this is even debateable at this point.

we don't even need to look at the awful numbers, just watch the games.

we're more than one trade away.

but neither are we in a place where we should be bottom of the league.
it's year 4 and excuses and next year cant go on forever. there's no reason we shouldn't be in the playoff hunt and possibly getting in THIS YEAR

not only that, but consistent losing isn't going to help these kids' psyches at all.

- hugefemale dog77

thats up to management to get the right mix and match of players... mact has done some work.. but alot of work to be done in that area....and may be too late they should have been over paying 3rd and fourth liner while the kids were on their entry level contracts to help there development... now they are at a point were they are gunna be up against the camp with no winning attitude to attract free agents to the chance to win over a big payday.

They haven't been able to win with Miller in the net...
- Fruitcakenipple

Yeah, they aren't doing so well in the scoring department. 7 goals in 7 games. That is not going to win many games for any team.

(frank), you missed such a good come from behind win. It was amazing, Yak came out and popped in a hatty in 10 seconds then gave the finger to Eakins as he went back to the dressing room. So crazy.

The main problem is all over the ice...and goaltending.

Watching the oilers play is no different than me playing shinny with my buddies...

Not exactly. When they score 4 or 5 or 6 goals in a game and then watch their goalies let in fluffies to actively lose the game you can absolutely point the finger in one direction. Like I said before, it's become trendy the last few years to crap on the Oilers D but they've actually played fine. When you allow a lousy 20 shots and lose by 3 goals there is a very definite area to blame.

I have a feeling were gonna see a trade come out of left field soon ( sorta like the the 05 trade that landed us Pronger ). Before any of you Richard heads say such and such team would never trade such and such player, remember that every player in the NHL is on the market for the right price. (frank) Bryzgalov or Miller, Mac T should see what it takes to land Quick, Lundqvist or Rinne.

Can we create a new position for justin schultz? Have two forwards (1C/RW and 1 LW) and two defensemen out there so he can just do what he does without having to defend as much. I'm not saying get him to play RW, because we have too many of those, but like a rover-type position.

Yes it's their fault when they're on the ice and Dubnyk is handling the puck like a grenade. Perhaps they could carry the puck around in their pocket so it doesn't scare him too badly. Sorry friend but +/- is a horribly subjective stat and Craig Button is beyond stupid.

I'm gonna be a wienerhead but none of those team have a goalie to fall back on, and DUbnyk obviously wouldnt cut it. Quick could have been had when LA still had Bernier, or Rinne when NSH had Lindback. Lundqvist is a UFA so i guess you never know.

Seriously though, blew my mind that as sharp as Walt was, it was just one minor little oversight that wrecked everything for him.
