Will we ever see Despress again?
Glad to hear some of the D prospects are working out. I expect Orpik to be gone after his deal. I would also love to see Moose back in Pitt. Why not? Move Nisk for a bag of pucks if you have to. - sammy87
I don't understand this comment. He has been really solid this year, why move someone just for the sake of moving them? Really it's not the ideal time to make trades and makes zero sense just to trade a good player for a "bag of pucks". Especially when you can afford to hold off and possibly get more for them down the road or hold off and reap the benefits of said player in the event of an injury. |

Unfortunately I havent been able to follow the Pens that close yet this yr. I thought they were still having cap issues and if they need to bring in a backup G. I really cant speak for how anyone has played 5 games in. |

Just settling in, really. Got a nice six day layover, seems like a perfect time for us to languish and fight amongst ourselves.
Of course, we'd fight amongst ourselves even if things were going well. |

Lundqvist's numbers blow too, especially for him. |

Since you continue to point out the fact that the entire Ranger team has been below average (not all Birons fault in other words) that you are hoping the pens claim him?
Disclaimer: You may have said this previously but I can only drop by for a few moments every now and then so I don't have time to read all the comments. |

Hey Gunner, gotta say the biggest pleasant surprise other than a hopefully improved defense is the stellar play of the 4th line. Solid. They have, what, four goals, lots of energy and toughness too. Those boys have been good. Adams, Vitale and yes, Glass. Can't believe I just typed that. |

In the blog I mentioned that. Maatta was #1 on the team in fenclose%. Number 2 on that list? Tanner Glass haha.

Also interesting is that Maatta has been the "unluckiest" player so far this year for the Penguins with a PDO of 883 |

I figured Glass would have a bounce back season. Pre-season did absolutely nothing to reinforce that thought. But he's been playing pretty well. |

Lundqvist looks like he is struggling too. That leads me to believe that it is a NYR team problem. - Ryan_Wilson
Very small sample size, but the guy that almost got bought out, Brad Richards, basically has half their goals. They have issues.

Somebody is going to give Lundqvist 7-8M per year. Most likely the Rangers. - Ryan_Wilson
Lundquist would be signed already if it only took 7-8 milliom per year; it was speculated this summer he was looking for 9 million per. |

Tiops reported that the Pens asking price for Nisky was a first rounder during the off-season. Omark and a 3rd isn't going to cut it especially after his hot start. I'm inclined to believe they'll sign him to a new contract rather than move him. - madmike71
What about Curtis Hamilton and a 3rd. |

9M is the price for being locked up early without seeing how the new changes to the coaching staff affect the Rangers and without seeing how the market plays out.
When its all said and done he will make between 7-8M per season. |

is the goal to keep Maata up and bring up Despres? Do you trade Niskanen and engelland to make room or is despres a trade option dependent upon the return? or is despres not coming up? |

I think we both can agree that part of the reason Sather let go Torts was because of King. If Torts stayed, King wouldn't resign in NY. He might not in the end, but the Rags stand a better chance now.

I don't think Niskanen gets moved. Like I said before, I'm starting to believe they'll offer him an extension. From all I've read, management really, really likes him. They like his versatility. They like that he's been able to jump right into Letang's spot.
These are good problems to have.....too many good players. I really think they could use Despres size and skill come playoff time. I thought Nisky was easily knocked off the puck during last years playoffs. |

If the pens don't feel Orpik will be back/is to expensive, and Depress is moved for another asset, then I could definately see them extending Nisk for the right price. That would of course mean he doesn't get moved this year. |

There is still Harrington and Dumoulin. Niskanen will get 3.5-4M per year. Penguins won't be that team. |
