No NHL 1st line is good enough for Jason "Art Ross Hart and somehow Vezina" Akeson.

It's awesome having Detroit in the Eastern Conf. The path to a Cup is so much easier now!

Our boy Jason has been a bit suspect when dishing the puck through two periods. I swear it's like the Phantoms have just been watching the Flyers PP and are convinced the Giroux/Timonen (Akeson/Gervais) hot potato game -> Hartnell (Noebels) in the slot never fails. They tried it at least once on every single one of their 7 PPs so far.

That being said, they did have a few pretty good chances but just couldn't bury them

game 6 should have never even gone to OT. they blew a lead in that game in regulation with poor goaltending and carter hit neimi in the mask/shoulder with a gaping net. game 1 and 6....totally winnable.

Colorado sporting the best record in the NHL. Calgary a top-3 in their division and Vancouver on the outside looking in.

Give it a week or 2.

Every time I think of that goal, he shoots it from further away. At first it was from the blue line. Then the circles. Then the red line. As of right now, I believe he shot that from somewhere in Northwest British Columbia.

That was so predictable. Eager has played 47 playoff games and has 3 goals. Why wouldn't one of them be a game winner in the SCF against the Flyers.

So, when does Pittsburgh get their chance to claim Biron? I don't exactly understand how the waiver process works. Does any interested team put in a claim, and then they just see which team put in a claim is lowest in the standings, or does each team have a timed window?

Waiver Priority

If more than one team puts in a claim on a player during the waiver period, then the team with the higher waiver priority's claim is accepted.

If the claim is before November 1, waiver priority is based on the previous year's standings, with the team with the worst record having first priority and the team with the best record having last priority.

If the claim is after November 1, waiver priority is based on the current year's standings, defined as the lowest percentage of possible points.

Beats me. However from what I've heard regarding Biron's play so far this year, there's a better chance Pittsburgh tries to bring back Ron Tugnutt before they would pick up Biron.

Ah, the Milbury school of GM.

Advisor: "Mike, we seem to have some really good guys here, but maybe we should make a minor move, we need to shake things up a little to keep drunken fans to keep coming to this awful stadium."

Milbury: "Shat awp man, we're todally gon make sum tradesnstuff. Who'we got now? Chara's all 6'9 and stuff. 69, thad's funny. Ledz see him go be all tall in Odwa and get yash...yash..thother daigle. throw in some pickzersomethin and sign other daigle to a 15 year deal."

Advisor: "Mike, you really shouldn't be sending faxes to the NHL. You've already recieved several letters from NHL headquarters about the fax you sent last week of you and those poor farm animals."

Mike: "They had it comin...trade that weird 'GOALIE' we ave and get me Kvasha, I ligeiz name."

But currently, if it's based on last year's standings and Toronto was middle of the pack, unless I'm misinterpreting this, how are they 2nd?

Hopefully Mason will continue his stellar play and we will pull off a win tomorrow night against Vancouver. It's always fun to watch Tortorella when he's losing?

BTW, the North American hockey media are just clueless. I was listening to NHL radio this morning and the 2 clowns were busting on Mason, calling him a backup at best. Amazing, the one guy who has played well this year for the Flyers is the one they decide to criticize. Oh well, why am I even surprised?

I heard the same thing and I was thinking have they even watched a Flyers game this year.

Toronto was an example when they applied to those rules. Ignore the part about Toronto in the waiver priority summary.

Zherdev?

- jmatchett383

It’s not exactly been the best summer for Nikolai Zherdev, the former NHL winger that’s had a rather colorful run in the KHL.

The former Columbus Blue Jackets pick, who also played for both the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers, was dropped from Atlant of the KHL after his contract was bought out. The 28 year old found a new home with HC Lev Praha, another KHL team, signing a 1-year deal last week.

Then things went sorta bad.

Like, voodoo curse bad.

According to vesti.ru, Zherdev was involved in a physical altercation at the Barvikha Luxury Village hotel, in a suburb just outside of Moscow. The Fourth Period termed it a “bar fight,” so we’ll go with that.

Then Zherdev crashed his new black Bentley, which cost 10 million rubles ($302,177 US). The damage will cost him another 1 million rubles to repair.

In what is our favorite part of the story: Local residents scrawled obscenities on Zherdev’s car because they were so revolted by his behavior.

So things couldn’t get worse, right? Well, there’s also the pending divorce....

JFC, we gotta sign him before the Rangers do!
