Yeah, but he is better and has actually played in the playoffs. Gardiner is good. And a 1st id useful. Not the best trade partner, but if a similar package was offered by the Sens, for Hall, I dont see how you could say no
- FLflames34

I don't think he is any better then Dubnyk,Hall is a Captain Material,if the Oil trade one of there top forwards it will be between Eberle or Yak and the only Goalie + for any of those two will have to be IMO Lehner.

Umm Reimer has more career wins with half the career losses...Reimer over Dubnyk 99 times out of 99....
- Zombie27

Id rather deal for Reimer actually. I think he's pretty good and the cost for him would be less than trying to pry Lehner from the Sens.

send yakupov to the sens for lehner and a D prospect like ceci
- MetroidPrime

Ceci is the sens top defensive prospect. And that is something they need right now. It would likely be someone else.

Let's not forget that the Oilers scored on a 5 on 3 that resulted from a really soft call on JVR. It goes both ways.

thing is unless nonis gets blown away by an offer i think they keep reimer until the summer just to make sure bernier is the real deal, and if he is then they trade reimer.

Just how it is. Nothing against Reimer whom I like and not a dig against your precious Leafs. Just that Lehner has more pedigree. Nothing personal.

JVR and Daniel Sedin for starters. Vanek and Benn too. To say he is better than all of these is a stretch.

Shoulder surgery has taken a toll on his development. I say he needs one or two years in the ahl. All round d-man.

How do you figure he doesn't have the assets? You have a team full of them.
- geta02it

But so many Oilers fans, and the organization themselves, consider way too much of the team to be untouchable. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard when you look at the glaring deficiencies that have been ignored since this rebuild began.

Sens fans. The absurdity of trading Yakupov for Lehner++ isnt the ++, its the fact that the Oilers are trading a 1st overall pick for a goalie in that scenario.

It isnt happening but if Yak goes out its a "Name your price" situation

It's early, but there are certainly problems with the oilers.

We're much better in some departments than last year: FO, Physciality, not getting pinned in our own zone.

We're worse in other departments: special teams are worse, but can't be held down for too long (esp the PP). We're actually worse (believe it or not) at getting/keeping the puck deep so far.

The lack of transition game right now is the issue. Justin Schultz is a good stick handler and skater, but he doesn't take charge in getting the puck from the Dzone to the O-zone like a strong offensive dman should. I would love to see him get more involved in that facet of the game instead of waiting until it's deep to start. Do they need another dman? Maybe, but with how much money they've devoted to the dcore and how many dmen they have in the pipe, I don't know whether they have option to acquire another guy.

I'm actually excited to see Gagner back, as at least he TRIES to be a 200 ft centre. We've had some inconsistency with guys transitioning back to Dzone as of yet. My only hope is that Phoenix goes broke and shops a Hanzal type, or Toronto doesn't realize what they have in a guy like Kulimen. Other intriguing options include Anisimov, Justin Williams, Joel Ward, Abdelkader, Hartnell, Ruutu. In mentioning these guys I'm not suggesting necesarrily a mid-season trade, but also what we could look at in the off-season if these problems persist.

JVR? He's underacieved since day 1. I don't think he's in that discussion at all. Sedin sure. Benn? more physical but no. Vanek? always starts hot and fizzles. Hall was ahead of them all last year and he's only 21. My point is valid.
