A roster spot that could be used to sign a prospect or be useful in a trade? They only have one spot left, after all.
- MaximumBone

Well a trade means a player leaves the Oil roster, thus making room. The Oil could try an eay option right now with that last spot & try Jose in net. If that doesn't work, mabie a trade would be the next option. I doubt a prospect from the Oil system is gonna be the solution right now.

what would it take to get yakupov ?

i was thinking edm needs .... Goalie + big D + maybe a center ?????? idk lol

i know it will never happen, but im bored lol

- Dallasstars

I'd take Campbell, one of Ritchie or Stransky, Rousell, and Erik Cole (with some cap withheld). Even then I'd hesitate.

Whether it was MacT or not (I don't know) but whoever came up with those trade scenarios is a (frank)ing genius. I'm at a loss for words right now at how brilliant both offers are.

You have to get a DNA sample from them, so it's actually the other way around.

He only says that because he likes them. It's like when a little boy punches a little girl in the arm... He may pretend to hate her, but he really likes her

Trade proposals are super duper and all but let's see what we have in yak. It's just a slow start and we have plenty of time to reasorect ourselves. I'll bet someone my location the oilers get to above .500 before gags returns.

Jeez us, for a smart kid your kinda thick sometimes. The first bit is the assets I would be willing to move , the second is the players ( or types of players rather) I would like to acquire . Do you think Mac T could get it done?
Who exactly are the types of ayers you would want and what would you be willing to part with?

- Jeropotato

Not thick, just FAR too literal

To answer your question, though, I'd first and foremost be looking for a starter. That needs to be our main focus as we have no one in the system that looks capable of such (whereas we do have such for a top-2 Dman). The list of attainable ones, however, is kinda short and not that impressive:

Hiller (expiring contract + vertigo), Elliot (I doubt him), Anderson (I doubt his availability), Neuvirth (essentially the same stage as DD), and Miller (expensive, expiring contract).

Of that list, we've gotta look for teams that are looking for upgrades in areas that we have strength in. That narrows it down to:

Hiller (Anaheim wants help on D and possibly a 2C)
Miller (Buffalo could use top-end scoring and veteran D)
Neuvirth (Washington could use help on D and some cap space)

Of those, your safest bet is likely Miller. The easiest one to acquire would likely be Neuvirth. Now, the pieces that I deem available include Smid, N Schultz, Dubnyk, Hemsky/Yakupov/Eberle, Gagner/Arcobello, Smyth, any prospect NOT named Nurse, and any picks. After that, it's just a fill in the blank:

Hiller for N. Schultz, Davidson, and a 2015 1st
Miller (1.5 mill withheld) + conditional 2nd (resigning) for Smid
Neuvirth, Brouwer, and Wilson for Dubnyk, N. Schultz (1 mill withheld), and Klefbom

The other route you can go is to look at unproven guys who have potential. Guys like Andersen or Gibson (ANA), Svedberg or Subban (BOS), Campbell (DAL), Markstrom (FLA), Poulin (NYI), Lehner (OTT), or Allen (STL).

As I'd rather not write another blogs worth of text, I won't go into the forwards or D.

I dont expect Leafs fans to be sorry for winning the game, but I dont know how you watch the replay and think "Yup, that is a completely acceptable play by NHL standards"

It was a blown call.

- Matt_Henderson

It was a non call because the refs were a wee bit tired of some of the Oiler's diving routines...

I knew I forgot something Campbell, Oleksiak, Rousell, and Cole (salary withheld)

I wouldn't do it regardless. I'd rather wait and see what we have with Yak than trade him at his lowest point. Fun to think about all the same!

And folks, this is why trauma to the head needs medical attention, and should not be ignored or swept under the rug.
