Well because Clowe is slow...I mean really slow. Has been slowing down over the last few years and never was fast to begin with plus he is an injury waiting to happen. Just not a fan of his and we will all see that he will go down as the biggest bust signing for Uncle Lou and he has some pretty bad ones. Olesz does bring some speed and size and if given a chance can probably score more then Clowe.

Yeah cause Olesz is a proven goal scorer, 14 goals a career high in the NHL.

What has Olesz ever done that makes you so confident in him? At his best he was an average 3rd liner.

The Devils biggest problem is their speed or lack of. Clowe will be the biggest bust ever for the Devils. He can't be anywhere near the top-2 lines. As for their defense, well most on this site know what are problems are and they can be fixed if Lou would send down/waive Salvador and Volchenkov and bring up Merrill and Gelinas.

Wholeheartedly disagree on Clowe. Very underestimated player who is very capable offensively. He just needs to find chemistry and his lack of speed won't be as obvious, if his linemates know where he is, he knows where they are, etc.

If we could do this year over again... Snub Zid this summer, have the Volchenkov and Salvador buyouts on a countdown until next offseason. Use this season to rotate Urbom, Gelinas, and Merrill in and out of the lineup with Zid's extra spot. By next season Volch and Sal are gone and Urbom, Gelinas, and Merrill are ready to step in as fulltime replacements.

I know I'm not smarter than Lou, but I legitimately don't understand what I'm missing about that strategy. Instead we dumped Urbom for absolutely nothing (he's now playing on the Capitals NHL team) and keep banging our heads against the wall watching these old bums night in and night out.

I said rotate them in and out, as in one at a time over the season. We'd only be without Zidlicky this year, so there'd be only one spot open. Merrill and Gelinas are on two-way deals, they can be called up and sent down and we could've run with 7 D if we kept Urbom up instead of resigning Zidlicky.
