I think that an assistant Coach has some input. But an assistant's job is to implement and teach what the head coach wants. And the GM decides who the head coach is. Berube has shown that his ideas and philosophies are significantly different then Laviolette's. So I would say that how the team attempted to play, was not how Berube would choose to.

I didn't say he planned them but helped. I am all for seeing what he would like to do now that he's the man behind the bench.

Do you think there was tension between berube and lavy? ... I do

I think Berube is a team player. I don't think he'd make waves.

The Flyers probably couldn't have had a worse start to the Season. The talk is that you have to finish in the top 3 of the Metro Division to make the playoffs. The Flyers, even with the way they have started the season. Are 3 points out of 3rd, and 4 points out of second in the division.

Now that's a serious silver lining look!

i doubt it. i did sense org tension during training camp, though. when homer's already expressing concern about the team's play @ that juncture, you knew lavi had a super short leesh. i think homer's going to be feeling the heat now...esp if they're something like 7-16-2 after 25 gms and in a hole they can't get out of...missing the plyoffs after the 2 CBOs...hoo boy!

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Daydreaming of a possible philly lineup today if 2 years ago didn't happen ........

Best team at center position:

Giroux
Carter
Richards
(5 on 5, pk, pp and Carter could play wing with G or Ritchie)

Money spent for Bryz and the MOST EXPENSIVE D in the NHL (too slow and too old) Instead of keeping cap friendly centers for a long time (5.25, 5.75) that win EVERYWHERE they go. Yes the return was good.... but as of now we have to wait 3 years to judge those trades in a city that doesn't like waiting. Carter had a broken foot in his last playoffs and Richards was coming off DOUBLE SHOULDER SURGERY in the offseason.

Homer's impatience will lead him to be impatient again possilby. Who knows. Plus the arrival of Lavy and the bad relationship rumors with him and Richie and Cartsy probably helped to facilitate the trades.

Either way we have to wait... But damnit it's frustrating and I miss those guys.

Oh ... I'm sorry. WE CAN FIX THINGS HERE? I thought it was to exchange thoughts and comment on the philadelphida flyers. I was unaware we could fix things and change the Flyers NHL team roster and the systmen play. My bad.

Sure, but those particular thoughts regarding the regret of trading players and hatred of our GM are incredibly repetitive and annoying. Doesn't help anything, and you're probably the 20th person to say it this month. Just give it a rest.

I don't like Schenn at all, but he's been really the only player that's been noticeable throughout the season so far.

It is kind of rare that a team with the skill the Flyers have at forward all go through a scoring slump at the same time. Usually its a few guys, but the entire forward corp?

I hope Berube can fix this by the time they come back from that 6 day break.

- MBFlyerfan

i don't want this to come across as a finger-pointing (because it's not really), but it seems like they really really struggle to produce when timonen isn't playing well. he started out slow last year, so hopefully he can get his game on track soon

I don't have hatred for Homer at all. He squeezes the trigger a little too quickly sometimes. He's a very active GM and isn't shy and will do anyting to make the team better. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't (Pronger injury for example-bad luck.)

I'm not responsible for what other people say on this site (repetitive/annoying) so think before your post something and be polite or go get a brain scan and possibly an IQ test.

Losing for two straight seasons as of now and maybe not making the playoffs for a 2nd straight year, you start to look at where the problems started for a franchise where making the playoffs every year was a given.

All I was saying was a team with top 3 centers of G - Richie - Carter would be freaking awesome...

Sure, you can't control what other posters say, but at least try to keep this board from coming a repetitive poop hole. Just scrolling back through the pages I can already see that the Richards and Carter trades have been talked about at least twice today, and the JVR trade has already been extensively discussed today. That's just today. Go back to yesterday, and the day before, and every day before going back to each trade, and I bet you'd find that these same subjects have been discussed almost every (if not every) day. And that's just in this thread. How many times these trades have been discussed and ridiculed in Ek's thread, as well as in other team's thread is beyond counting. It's gotten really, really, super, incredibly old.

Pulp Fiction Winston Wolfe!!!

I think most people on here would like to have Richie back, Wides not so much. But what's done is done. Homer went with Lavy and turned the team over to Prongs. It was only when Prongs went down the wheels started coming off. We need to forget about that now and focus on what we do have. The Chief will get this team turned around and you can already see it happening. When was the last time we got a result at the Joe in any season.

They're creating scoring chances they just need to start taking advantage.

Foles is tall and sees the field and has good timing. Vick is short and relies on his arm too much. I dont care how many yards he gains with his legs
- Crimsoninja

Foles' height and vision advantage is particularly evident in the red zone. Vick's red zone efficiency is abysmal, and that is partly due to the fact that when the field "shortens" as it does when in the red zone, being able to see over the line is even more important. Vick can't do that, no matter how good an athlete he is (and he is a great athlete). So he gets more than his share of passes blocked, and makes a lot more errant throws because he has to thread the ball around the rush. He can't go over it. I think this is partly why Vick does most of his damage between the 20's, or at least outside the red zone. He can see the field better as the play spreads out downfield. I don't really have any numbers or stats to support this, it's just my own idea from what I see when watching him play.

I also happen to think that Foles is more poised and deals with defensive pressure better than Vick. Vick is certainly better at escaping, but I think Foles is better at making the right read under pressure and making the smarter play. In short, Vick is clearly the better athlete, but I think Foles is the better overall QB, especially for this offense. Yes, foot speed is important. But making the right reads is more important.

I really hope they don't go back to Vick next week. If it were up to me I would let Foles play until he proves to be worse than Vick.

Wasn't the time difference between those 2 getting traded and Pronger going down roughly 10-11 games? The Pronger era (w/o Carter, Richards) was barely longer than the current start of the season and maybe the Flyers next win.

In my opinion the only way those deals become bad trades is if they abandon the course and retool again.
