Pretty sad if they are still going to be cheap a year from Brooklyn when you want to build up the good feelings. If they end up missing the playoffs this year, that could really turn up the heat. Again, no way I'm betting the farm. - ses111
I've been hoping the same for years but as long as crazy Charley is steering this rowboat, all I see are rough seas ahead. |

Every year there's a different reason why they're going to start investing in the team. I'll believe it when I see it. It's tough watching this team with as much potential as it has struggle with this ECHL defense. It's a joke. - Cptmjl
Unfortunately the only way the Isles D would have been better is thru trades, but we don't even know what teams would ask back for a decent D-man? There is a premium price for D, unless you take back salary, which the Isles probably would have, but Isles are not taking back any D-man, which I do agree.
My only gripe with Snow is; he has to know who are future Isles and who is not, and weed out the others. Plus there were a couple of guys in FA I might have entertained that other teams did for the cheap. The players who got big $$$ are not worth it or the length of contract they signed. Snow needed to get creative w/some roster players and prospects bc all are not going to make this team. |

Well the good thing is the excuses go out the window very soon. No more blame the Coli for everything. It will be on Charles and Garth if FA's still do not come. The press attention will be a lot more in Brooklyn as well. |

I would have to think with the team going to Brooklyn in two years and you have JT and a young team that alomost beat Pitt in the playoffs, that should allow you to buy some decent FA's. Hard to believe players would be that turned off playing at the Coli for Two years. - ses111
like I asked, what decent FA's? And with Snow and Wang and Cappy running this team, all 3 are unproven hockey minds, do you trust them, bc its the same ol excuses every year why/what we are doing for the future.
Bottom line is Wang will not spend enough until he leaves Nassau county |

Just a question.... if you were Snow, who would you have gone after in FA last year? now keep in mind that Wang is your owner, and you keep losing money being in Nassau Coliseum.
Also, very hard to attract FA to come here.... - Ur Not Me
My three moves would have been a power forward who could play on the Tavares line. A defenseman with size that could play the power play. Finally a goalie who could alternate games with Nabokov. Snow didn't do any of these.... |

This past FA class was weak and I did not expect any big signings. I'm not sure how hard Garth pushed on trades? If Charles does not want to spend until Brooklyn that is his business. He is not getting my business until he starts spending more. |

I feel the same way, that's why I didn't renew my season tixx this year. And Snow is selling everyone that he has the authority to make a big move if necessary and I don't buy it..... |

Sekera and Hainsey were on the market. Sekera is now playing first pairing in Carolina. I thought Snow could of picket up one of them. Strait and Hickey are waste of ice time. |

Agree totally
Funny you mentioned both those names, bc those are 2 players I wished the Isles would have brought here....
I think Sekera needed a change of scenery from Buffalo & Hainsey could of replaced Streit for this year, but Snow wants to seam like a genius with his waiver wire scrubs....
EDIT: and also would of entertained Douglas Murray w/ 1yr deal for added toughness as the 3rd player for D |

Would he really be that terrible on the Isles? if so, he's a better option than Hickey or Strait.
regardless, Sekera is a young veteran and a change of scenery from Buff might help his play |

I think people are going to have to face the facts this is how Wang is going to run a hockey team. Snow said he could make a team competitive with a minimum budget. This team will never be big spenders as long as Wang is owner for better or worse(probably better to an extent, somewhat...).
I hate seeing this team just be a couple pieces from being truly competitive. They don't need much and if the money that was spent during the offseason was spent IMO a little wiser our backend hypothetically could've been a little more bearable. Snow made a misstep not addressing it along with goaltending IMO. |

watch the replay of the 3rd goal. The defensemen, (i forget who it was) moved out of the way so he could see the shot. There wasn't a screen. It WAS a big shot and a great shot but he's got to make that save everytime. Too far out - Isles316
I would still be more comfortable in that situation if Strait would have simply put his shin guards in between the puck and the goalie, rather than move out of the way at the very last second. That's what this team needs to learn to do, more than anything else- not just talk about blocking shots, but actually practice blocking them, so that they actually block them. |

Could of gave Boyes 2yrs @ 3.5 instead of signing Bouchard for 2 mil. Lets hope he shows up and plays after sitting out last night. |

I'd rather wait for PMB to be a consistent healthy scratch and have Nelson play and learn the ropes than see that POS Boyes on this team. We can't have two guys like that on the same team. Good for Florida and him hope it works out. |

There wasn't anyone in this last FA class, and the guys there were cost WAY too much money...the contract Clarkson got was staggering....actually, I think Toronto's GM was staggering when he made that phone call. To get what we REALLY need- a top end defenseman, especially in his own end, it's going to cost us blood, not just treasure. Those kind of players don't move very often, and if they do, it's going to be a king's ransom in a trade, not a simple free agent signing. Not even the lowest rent teams in the league let theirs go in free agency- Weber is likely taking up nearly a quarter of what Nashville is willing to spend on total payroll, but they kept him.
I still think that if we want Strome to play second line center, we COULD eventually find a winger for JT in free agency...I didn't like what was out there this year, but eventually, there will probably be one. A top flight defenseman, on the other hand, won't be....nor will a goalie who is better than a shot in the dark.... |

No question. Some Isles fans want to give Wang and Snow a complete pass because the Coli. Not me. There had to have been better choices that could have been made with a small payroll. Other teams have done it. Good luck if Wang is going to continue to run this team like this in Brooklyn. I really hope that is not the case. |
