Christ, this team just flat out stinks.

The incompetancy of the front office over the past couple of years has finally shown through to the product on the ice.

That alone would be enough for someone to lose their job...more than enough.

Man, let's be honest. It has to be Hextall who said that, right?

Who else in the organization would feel free voicing that opinion now, considering that they all had to be on board with it when they made the move -- or shouldn't be letting that get out now and not when Schenn was playing well last season?

Not sure I get all the love for McGinn. He looked ok before, but he didn't stand out for me.
- funmaster18

i wouldn't say i'm enamored by him, i just think he was effective enough to earn another crack at it. it's definitely not certain that he's ever gonna make it for real though

I'm told that McGinn and Raffl were called up after the injuries to Lecavalier and Hartnell.

Well, there you go.

I dont get it......5 bad games and Schenn sucks. He was solid last year. More than solid at times.
- nastyflyergirl

i'm with you. i'm definitely not convinced of his demise yet

my statements were more of an if-type thing

And I wasn't singalong you out just so there's no confusion.

Hopefully he takes advantage of this opportunity.

If enough guys get hurt, I think they can recall Laughton on an emergency basis.

i was gonna say "that would be awesome". but then i remembered the first part of your statement

Interested to see what Raffl can do..
I think we saw last year that McGinn is serviceable or a solid bottom 6 player.

all very solid points

it's no secret that i was always one of carle's biggest proponents here, so i won't get much into the whole "whipping boy" part. most know how i feel about that

but still i would've been very hesitant to throw out some of those 30ish mil numbers as well. for as badly as we need a guy like him now, he's still at best a marginal top-pairing guy. and that's a lot of money

as you said though, very easy to judge now and there's no sense crying over it. it's done. moving forward i just hope that if they go with such one dimensional guys (streit, coburn, schenn, grossmann) they can find ways to keep them at lower cap hits. or at least not carry so many that are getting paid so well

I like Homer but I see certain things as major faults.

I don't like the long contracts, especially for guys 30 and over.
I hate the NTCs.
I think the Flyers pay market value and sometimes market value + on their deals.
(this is a bit of a nit picking).

The D is unbalanced and as the architect of the team he is to blame.

Trading away any draft picks is complete folly the way the league is constructed now, and while they are better at that lately they have been too fast to trade them away for band aides in the past.

I will be rooting hard for McGinn.
He took a backwards step after having his face broken in that fight.

I liked him and his game before that fight, and hope he makes the most of his opportunity.

I would have thought Flyers fans would have turned on the goalies instead.

can't say i disagree with any of this man. the way the d is structured is definitely (imo) the biggest black mark on homer's record

and hopefully the keep the recent trend of holding onto draft picks alive. hell, if things keep going south, maybe add a few more!

I don't think we are lacking the talent to be a good team, but I'm starting to question the mix of players. I'm going to see where stand at the end of the month.
- funmaster18

in my opinion this teams lack of offense stems from the lack of quality puck moving d-men.
Sure they have Streit...

Coburn has really lack the skating and puck moving that he displayed earlier in his career.

Kimmo has been less then Kimmo. Being counted on as the #1 d-man and playing the way he has, well it put added stress on the other 4 guys on the ice with him as well as the rest of the defensive core.

L.Schenn has looked like the guy everyone in Toronto was telling us about.

Grossmann has been as advertised, solid.

Mezzy is still finding his game after not having any real sustained game action in quite some time.
