Same thing people said about Eller when he scored a paltry 17 points in 77 games as a 21 year old.

Couturier is still only 20.

Can't wait til the Flyers move him then botch and moan when he breaks out with him new team in a few yrs

I know, they are scoring so many goals that McGinn's goal is just completely lost in the shuffle.

Schenn has been, for the most part, unfairly picked on thus far.

I'm off to bed. It was a good biochem allnighter

If Brayden Schenn wasn't the 5th pick of his draft year and the center piece of the return for Mike Richards, then I'd agree with you.

Otherwise, fair or unfair, people have expectations of BSchenn to be "more" of whatever he is supposed to become and he hasn't met them yet.

That said, I don't want him dealt at all. He's still just a kid and you can see lots of good things in his game.

Flyers fans are going to have to learn "patience" even if the Chairman doesn't have any.

It's ridiculous if they send McGinn down again after the injured return.

Meanwhile Schenn has 2-2-4 in 6 games and Richards 0-3-3 in 5. I guess I am watching another game because I feel as tho Schenn has been good so far

I thought he and Raffl looked solid last night. I do hope even when bunny returns next week, McGinn and Raffl stay in assuming they play like they did last night

I know they won't keep both tho because they will feel like they need to keep rosehill

I don't like B. Schenn at all, but he is one of the very few playing consistently good so far this year. Not because of stats, stats are a terrible argument to use by themselves, but because he is doing things this year he wasn't doing his previous years. Hitting with a purpose and not taking himself out of the play, hopefully he tells his brother about this. He has been moving to open ice without the puck. The biggest thing for me, he isn't floating when going to the bench or when the puck is turned over. All things he did constantly for the previous two years. The fact he is producing with points is icing on the cake.

As for the "other" piece of the trade, Simmonds. He is the epitome of the Flyers problems, a one dimensional piece of "toughness". He gets pushed around like a 12 year old girl and knows how to do one thing....shimmy around the boards with the puck until he loses it. Unlike two years ago when it worked half the time, he now loses the puck before he even gets it by doing that stupid predictable head/shoulder fake. How do you defend him, push him in the back a little bit and he will tumble in the boards. The only time he does anything good is when he is stationary, unfortunately he's always moving or "wobbling" around the ice turning it over. Even when he gets scoring chances he's still unbalanced on his skates. I'm surprised no one in the Flyers organization has taken him to a skating camp or help with those glaring issues...unless there is too much pride on both sides.

Your statement only focuses on 1/2 the equation. For it to be a good trade, Luke Schenn has to play well and be a stud defenseman whether or not JVR does good or not.

If Luke Schenn plays bad - BAD trade no matter how JVR does.
If JVR goes on to be a stud and Schenn is merely a top 4 dman then it is also a bad trade

Through the 1.1 seasons JVR is blowing Schenn away. JVR was on pace for nearly 40 goals on the 1st line of a playoff team last year and is exceeding that pace this year so far.

JVR is playing 21+ minutes a night, Schenn 14.

- Flyers_01

You've got some of the facts wrong. JVR was on pace for 30 goals last year, not 40. And I couldn't disagree more that JVR is blowing Schenn away. Have no idea where you come up with that? And the current Season is 6 games old. I understand why you only want to look at 6 games, and ignore the rest when looking at minutes played.

I really don't think there is an argument to be made on who won the JVR/Schenn trade at this time in favor of the Flyers.

- Flyers_01

There absolutely is an argument that can be made. If you look at it objectively.

In your hypothetical situation, how far would JVR have to fall and for how long for this to be a good trade? Your hypothetical was pretty broad. In my mind it would have to be a pretty staggering fall from grace for JVR.

- Flyers_01

The same way he "fell" last year when JVR went long stretches without scoring and his level of play fell way off. When Leafs fans were complaining about his play during parts of the season. Including only scoring 4 goals in a 22 game span. Which is scoring at a 14 goal pace. I think you've elevated JVR on a pedestal that he doesn't belong on. Beginning with being mistaken about JVR being on a 40 goal pace last year.
