Detroit scored 1 even strength goal tonight ... did you see then all looking at the puck carrier Giroux completely blew his assignment on that goal... just lack of concentration and effort
- flyer186

A lot of Giroux's issues are bc of him lacking trust in his teammates and really who can blame him?

False, I think that, just as much as we have negative fans, there are just as many that coddle this team and make excuses for a team that has been inexcusable. The things you are talking about is how people used to talk about the Islanders. These are things that pro teams should be doing already. I'm being honest. I'm also being realistic. If we have to sit here and pat the team on the back because they scored two even strength goals, completed 40% of their passes instead of 25%, and skated hard for two periods instead of one, then whom does the problem lie with. Those "positive" people are patting them on the back for doing better in a game they gave up 5 goals, 3 on the pp, and lost by 3. To those people I say grow up Peter Pan.

And yet the Islanders are an up and coming team that made the playoffs last year. Being honest and being objective is seeing the positive and the negative. And there was some of both tonight. And it's clear that the Flyers are not stagnating, and are making progress and improvement.
Nobody's patting the Flyers on the back. It's realizing the situation and knowing that it's not going to happen overnight. And getting to where they should be is a process.

I'm aware of the score. They lost the special teams battle. They took too many penalties.
When you're a team in a situation that the Flyers are in, it's a process to turn it around. They've already gone from a team that systems wise was a mess. That was being out competed and out worked, to team that has a much better team game, and came out and competed hard and matched Detroit work ethic on the 2nd night of a back to back. There's is improvement being made.
I clearly asked you if the Flyers out played the Red Wings at even strength. I did not state that they outscored the Red Wings, or out played them in every aspect.

- MJL

I know what you asked. And my answer is no. The Flyers did not. They did too many of the simple things that good hockey teams do wrong. And they paid for it dearly on the scoreboard, in a pretty lopsided final.

I can. No reason for it. And based on his current level of play, maybe his teammates shouldn't trust him.

Well then that's not being objective. Because the Flyers were clearly the better team in the game at ES.

For the prices on the ticket stubs and the merchandise in the stores. We have a right to demand a better product on the ice and better leadership in this organization.

I don't think who the Captain is, nor leadership is the issue.

well i believe the lack of leadership goes a long way... i beleive the lack of a voice .. not just coaches but your team mates holding you accountable has to be there and i don't think giroux is that voice... i dont think he is a leader right now

Well he's certainly not leading with his play right now. But I don't think the Captaincy is an issue.

We def do, but I don't think that anyone can argue that the org isn't trying. They are spending and shuffling to nausea. Now what they are doing, we can arm chair quarterback all day.

well only time will tell... just cause he is supposed to be our star player doesn't mean he has to be captain i think he has to much problems with his own game and that the "C" is a burden to him right now

Why, because they had more shots? Because the Flyers out scored them 2-1? And what does it even mean. They outplayed them 5 v 5. Do you not get it? Look at what you are saying here. You are arguing that I should be proud that the Flyers may or may not have been better at even strength. What about the rest of the game? For every positive there is two more negatives. They played well 5 on 5, but stunk in every other facet of the game. What do I take from that? That they can't play a complete game? That when they play well in one area the rest of their game calls to pieces? What? I'm objective and I get what you are saying, but you proud of them over the tiniest of moral victories. And yes the Islanders are up and coming. It took them nearly a decade to get here. And that was as the 8th seed in the playoffs. Is this what you want? To take a decade to get there? Cause accepting this bullpoop play and giving them moral victories in 5 on 5 play in a 5-2 loss is coddling and asinine.

in Giroux's own word he lacks confidence right now... how can you be a confident leader when you have no confidence in your self... and that translates to leadership in the locker room you have a captain with no confidence how does he portray a confident attitude toward the team... a winning attitude ... something this team is in dire need of right now

Sooooooooooooo taking the captaincy from him won't do ANYTHING to his confidence. It especially won't worsen it, right?

it may it may not but if you install some one with a confident attitude some one who has had experience in ups and downs of a team it will help the team.... giroux is only one player but as captain his lack of confidence flows into the locker room he is supposed to be the leader

Even strength they played a good road game.
Goal tending and PK were bad.

I keep seeing people cry for accountability , exactly what would you like to have happen? Do you bench Timmo for fanning on that pass to Giroux? Do you bench Giroux for trying too hard?

- opeth_pa

Kimmo has been bad on the PP all season. It's time to replace him on the top unit with Schenn.

I missed the game. How'd they look? Any bright spots? What happened to B Schenn?
- BiggE

He was solid. Raffl and McGinn had good games once they settled down. Read was good and Gus was very good.

The D, in general, was below average, as was Emery. Part of that was all the PPs we gave Detroit.

G and Jake seemed to have more jump, but we rightly should expect a lot more from them. My opinion of Simmonds is sinking with every passing game...

Couts needs to start burying his chances... And that whiff of a pass from Kimmo was painful to watch.

Same thing people said about Eller when he scored a paltry 17 points in 77 games as a 21 year old.

Couturier is still only 20.
