Red Wings- 5
Flyers- 2

They couldn't of outplayed them that badly when they lose by 3 goals. I saw their goaltending out play ours. Their special teams out played ours. Their defense out played ours and their forwards scored 4 goals. Again, there aren't moral victories in this league. Every other team Detroit has played INCLUDING Buffalo shut out Detroit's powerplay. Flyers gave up 3, two of which should have been saved by their goaltender. So no, the Flyers didn't out play Detroit, if they did, we'd be talking a different result.

- Flyers1218

I'm aware of the score. They lost the special teams battle. They took too many penalties.
When you're a team in a situation that the Flyers are in, it's a process to turn it around. They've already gone from a team that systems wise was a mess. That was being out competed and out worked, to team that has a much better team game, and came out and competed hard and matched Detroit work ethic on the 2nd night of a back to back. There's is improvement being made.
I clearly asked you if the Flyers out played the Red Wings at even strength. I did not state that they outscored the Red Wings, or out played them in every aspect.

Detroit scored 1 even strength goal tonight ... did you see then all looking at the puck carrier Giroux completely blew his assignment on that goal... just lack of concentration and effort

He had his back to the play and was watching instead of turning around and picking someone up.

I missed the game. How'd they look? Any bright spots? What happened to B Schenn?

Play that negativity and optimism card.

The reality is that this team has been a joke now for a while. Given out big contracts to players, only to deal them out shortly after.

Sign aging, declining stars.

The biggest reality? The start to this season, even if you want to ignore pre-season. They suck ass, and with Ed running the show changes will happen sooner than later.

Im curious only for one thing. Do they deal for youth? Or do they deal for vets and a quick fix.

Average NHL age is 27.8 the Flyers are at 28.1

untill this team starts to skate untill this team starts to play like a team we will continue to fill this blog with how pathetic they are... all these obstruction penalties ( interference holding hooking) are all caused by laziness not skating not getting back and just plain being out of position... it has to stop it has to get better or this team will have the same result night after night
- flyer186

They have no team speed, and very few players who can carry the puck up the ice.

Basically, its all just a mess. We can talk here as much as we want, but if things do change we all know a trade is coming. Snider wants the playoffs, and we will see just how badly.

I just pray if they do make a deal, that they deal for youth and not a quick fix.

The Flyers have signed a lot of players. How many have they signed and dealt them a shortly after?

Teams out play other teams all the time and don't win. Sometimes your goalie has a bad game, sometimes the other teams goalie stands on his head. You are basically trying to cover up all the good the flyers did tonight by saying it doesn't matter because they lost.
- idiotsallofu

Its always something...

its the refs
its the long offseason or the shortened season
Its the injuries
Its our goalie
Its the coach
Its the other teams goalie

If it was just one night its not a big deal... but its every freaking game since the beginning of last season... ugh!

Who is saying to blow up the team.

Who is saying to throw away said players of the core.

People are saying make deals, if they make sense, and that the said untouchables, probably shouldn't be untouchable much longer. Eventually a move will have to be made regardless to fix that joke of a D, where the closest thing to a saviour lies in a young kid named Morin.

- flyer_nutter

The fact that the Flyers are 1-6 doesn't change how the Flyers should feel about players such as Couturier. Any GM worth his salt knows that.

The two guys on the back end expected to lead the transition are above 35. The two "talented" guys on the back end.

Overall I don't have much of an issue with the forward core other than needing 1 more guy with elite talent. That defense is filled with established NHL'ers. That provide nothing to a transition or speed game and it forces them to slow the game down to a snail's pace.

Luke Schenn is a shutdown D, and frankly the only non-established guy is Guss.

One of those over 35 likely won't be back so that removes him and drops the avg team age going forward. Build with what they have and develop them every day

False, I think that, just as much as we have negative fans, there are just as many that coddle this team and make excuses for a team that has been inexcusable. The things you are talking about is how people used to talk about the Islanders. These are things that pro teams should be doing already. I'm being honest. I'm also being realistic. If we have to sit here and pat the team on the back because they scored two even strength goals, completed 40% of their passes instead of 25%, and skated hard for two periods instead of one, then whom does the problem lie with. Those "positive" people are patting them on the back for doing better in a game they gave up 5 goals, 3 on the pp, and lost by 3. To those people I say grow up Peter Pan.

They have plenty of team speed. They were all over the Red Wings tonight at ES play. On the 2nd night of a back to back.
You need another team to make a trade.
Agree on not going for a quick fix.

Hey bud.

Newsflash.

He was talking about 5v5 play. Take away DET's 6 pps and I bet you the flyers killed them in puck possession which is pretty much an impossible thing to do when playing the Wings especially in Detroit.

Also, they're the Detroit Red Wings. You honestly are kicking our (otherwise) pretty solid PK to the curb just because the Wings finally broke out of their slump? It was inevitable that it'd happen. Unfortunately it was tonight.

They are as much of a joke as the Rangers were 10 years ago. Its one thing if your a franchise that struggles on a limited budget. Ed Snider and Holmgren are tanking this once proud franchise.
