How are infants MacKinnon, Monahan, and Hertl doing? I think Couturier is the Gerber bananas in their diapers.

All players develop at their own pace. Don't really see what your point is.

holmger has made a lot of solid moves, but the last 2 seasons...kind of going all downhill. at least it feels that way.

i wish the team would stop acquiring aging former stars...those moves just don't pan out here.

i could see hextall taking over this season. wouldn't shock me.

- hammarby31

This season is going to spiral out of control. It will resemble 2006-2007. I believe Holmgren will be gone by Thanksgiving.

Well like many they tend to ignore some of the things they are doing well and stick to being negative all the time.
- ob18

Not really, just ing at this team.

Schenn played another solid game and they outplayed the wings in two of the 3 rounds.

Still got beat 5-2 and oh that makes it 1-5 this season.

funy, but harsh. and a bit unfair. lets see how mackinnon, monahan, and hertl are doing in 2 -3 years.

coots is still very much a kid. anybody can have a spell of success. well, almost anybody.

- hammarby31

The thing with Coots is that at this point he is a solid shutdown 3rd line center, who has shown very limited offensive output/potential.

To expect more out of him is unfair to him, and the team imo.

Overall my comments here direct at one thing. I don't think this said core has enough elite talent on it. That's not even addressing the defense which is a joke.

I agree that it hasn't been pretty to watch the Flyers at all, there has been improvement, though. Some of you are just talking out of your backside when you post stuff like, blow the team up, try an trade Giroux, Coots, Schenn, Simmonds, Voracek etc, etc. These are all young players, CORE young players. I do not want to give up on any of them right now. It is still early in the season and i believe it will get turned around.

So you didn't see the Flyers outplay the Red Wings at even strength in the game tonight?
There's still some things that they need to fix obviously. But the effort and compete of the team tonight was far from a disgrace.

- MJL

Red Wings- 5
Flyers- 2

They couldn't of outplayed them that badly when they lose by 3 goals. I saw their goaltending out play ours. Their special teams out played ours. Their defense out played ours and their forwards scored 4 goals. Again, there aren't moral victories in this league. Every other team Detroit has played INCLUDING Buffalo shut out Detroit's powerplay. Flyers gave up 3, two of which should have been saved by their goaltender. So no, the Flyers didn't out play Detroit, if they did, we'd be talking a different result.

It's very early in his career, and while I think Couturier can be a contributor on a good team, I don't think his skating and offensive game are going to progress to the point where he ever becomes a 50+ point scorer.

Even strength they played a good road game.
Goal tending and PK were bad.

I keep seeing people cry for accountability , exactly what would you like to have happen? Do you bench Timmo for fanning on that pass to Giroux? Do you bench Giroux for trying too hard?

I want to give this team 10 games under Chief at this point to see if they can build off the things that have been better. I have no doubts that Giroux will end this season around a PPG player regardless of how he is struggling right now. I think Voracek will get his points. I think B Schenn is having a solid year. Beyond those 3 no one is untouchable to me and for the right deal I would certainly move Schenn.

Well you never know. I don's see his skating as an issue. And I see the potential in Couturier to easily be a better then 50 point scorer in this League.

Coburn has had good moments but seems lost. Giroux I'd bet he is not 100% and that's why you see him struggling.

Play that negativity and optimism card.

The reality is that this team has been a joke now for a while. Given out big contracts to players, only to deal them out shortly after.

Sign aging, declining stars.

The biggest reality? The start to this season, even if you want to ignore pre-season. They suck ass, and with Ed running the show changes will happen sooner than later.

Im curious only for one thing. Do they deal for youth? Or do they deal for vets and a quick fix.

Teams out play other teams all the time and don't win. Sometimes your goalie has a bad game, sometimes the other teams goalie stands on his head. You are basically trying to cover up all the good the flyers did tonight by saying it doesn't matter because they lost.

Who is saying to blow up the team.

Who is saying to throw away said players of the core.

People are saying make deals, if they make sense, and that the said untouchables, probably shouldn't be untouchable much longer. Eventually a move will have to be made regardless to fix that joke of a D, where the closest thing to a saviour lies in a young kid named Morin.

untill this team starts to skate untill this team starts to play like a team we will continue to fill this blog with how pathetic they are... all these obstruction penalties ( interference holding hooking) are all caused by laziness not skating not getting back and just plain being out of position... it has to stop it has to get better or this team will have the same result night after night

Flyers generated 29 even strength shots. They had boatloads of offensive chances. And yes, Berube has them headed in the right direction.
- MJL

I rarely agree with you but I feel Berube has them headed in the right direction.
If anyone thought that he could turn this around over night, then they're unrealistic because change takes time.

Detroit scored 1 even strength goal tonight ... did you see then all looking at the puck carrier Giroux completely blew his assignment on that goal... just lack of concentration and effort
