I'm I'm Columbus, why would I do that trade? Again, not trying to stir things up, but if the entire fanbase wants a player moved (which it seems like most of you do), what makes you think he'd get this kind of return?
I personally think Kesler gets a bit too much criticism, but I haven't watched him closely the past 2 years. But if you want good value, which Dubisnky and Atkinson can bring, and Kesler's not really bringing it any more, why would he fetch such a return? Again, I'm really just curious. - jmatchett383
First off I'm just throwing a somewhat reasonable trade out there for Friday afternoon. But secondly I'm really curious how much power you think a fanbase has. Please, do tell. |

Thank God we don't have much. This team would be in horrible shape. |

No thanks. I like Atkinson but Dubinsky will be ripped even more than Kesler by you guys if you want him as 2LC. Kesler's better offensively IMO. Again, I'm probably biased here though. - Nucker101
Agreed.
Kesler is better offensively than Dubinsky, and Atkinson is a smurf.
One of Jenner or Johansen (sp?) would have to be part of the deal. |

It's pathetic that it's even being reviewed:
- Did NOT extend his elbow
- Did NOT jump off of the ice
- Did NOT even make direct contact with Hertl's head
If this is a suspension then I'm done even commenting or trying to comprehend what the hell this league is doing until some new people are in charge. - Nucker101
You know damn well the Orca on the front of the jersey gets you two games automatically. |

Oh, I'm not insinuating that the fanbase has any power. Like I said, I haven't followed them since the Cup run. I'm using the fan base as a gauge of how the player is perceived on a wide basis. Not an exact measure, but if the fanbase thinks he is performing to a substandard level, it stands to reason that the higher-ups around the league notice the same things. |

Isn't he more of a Steve Downie type player? I think we need more of a Sean Monahan type guy plus a winger prospect or an actual hockey player.
Monahan and Jackman for Kesler? - 1970vintage

Dubinsky is really a perfect 3rd line center, passable 2nd C. Atkinson gives us a good and promising winger who's NHL ready now, not in 2-3 years (like Shinkaruk or Jensen). It's not ideal but Kesler has been the 2010 version since 2010. We really need to start realizing that.
I saw a great interview recently with arguably the greatest coach in soccer history - Alex Ferguson (Manchester United) - who just retired. One of his secrets of success was being able to identify the moment a player began his decline and would then sell him for top value shortly afterword. Nostalgia can't afford to get in the way. |

well we seem fairly divided on this board so I'm not sure if that's an accurate gauge of the fanbase. |

Kesler also has a NTC so it's going to be hard to get a good bidding war going if Gillis were to trade him, which I'm 99.99% sure he won't, at least not during this season. Useless subject to bring up or talk about at this point IMO.
I'm going to get a little crazy here....how about we actually acquire another top 6 forward instead of trading one away? Wild thought I know.
It won't be easy through trade, which is why I could see Gillis just letting this year play out and potentially buying out Booth next year and using the cap inflation to spend that money on a top 6 forward since the D-Core is already set and I'm cool with Horvat/Gaunce fighting it out for 3LC next year, plus Shinkaruk could potentially be ready for second line duties.
I'm more pumped about next season, the ELC production we could potentially get out of Shinkaruk, Horvat/Gaunce and Corrado could set us up nicely, hopefully one of Kassian or Jensen steps up as well. |

Granted, I only read a good portion of this particular section of comments, but I'm seeing a ton of Kesler trade proposals thrown around. May just be boring afternoon syndrome though. |

Eh, I guess. Over on ye ole Flyers board, we just argue about whether our individual defensemen are terrible or if the lack of team defense makes them terrible. Then we talk about trading one of our best players (different one very day) for beans because "HE SUX TRADE HIM!" |

If you're more excited about next season then you should lining up proposals for next season. Selling Kesler at the TDL could bet us some quality assets. I'm convinced he's on the decline. Beast mode features less and less, but every time we remember the career year he had. |

It is 5 games in and we have beaten the non playoff teams and lost against the playoff team. I am not sure how you can rate a team after a small packet of games. We have also had 2 key players injured or suspended.
After 25 see where we stand.
The reason most including myself are open to trades because we have seen how the last two years have unfolded and nothing from the core has changed. We can sort of see what to expect.
We have ran out of excuses and it just may be time to make some bold moves. First bold move may be getting rid of the GM. |
