No one should be making $8 million dollars but that's the market for a top 10 scoring forward. See Claude Giroux. If Kessel would have made it to UFA he would have got that and maybe more. Vanek will get in that range from someone other than Buffalo because he's smart and getting out.

You probably don't understand that, cheering for a team that let's it's players walk when it's time to pay them. How's that working out for the Sabres.

I'd let Vanek or Phil walk for 8 without a second thought. Did we let players walk before when we shouldn't have sure, have other players been signed to bad contracts sure. Happens all over the league and it will for years to come.

Let's revisit the players we didn't sign, 1 forced to retire and the other recently bought out. Looking back yea it sucked at the time, but I guess we didn't get stuck with a ridiculous contract and a compliance buy out did we? Campbell didn't get hims money either and won a cup in Chi town, was it him or was it Kane and Toews (I'll put my money on those 2).

Personally I would have let Vanek go for the picks to Edmonton, but we overpaid him and he's been a decent player.

In that time frame how many times did the Leafs make the playoffs or won cups? Last one was 64 right, just curious were you even alive for it?

Oh Oh I know the next thing, well you guys never won a cup, ok so when was the last time you guys did when there the current amount of teams?

Not seeing much of a difference here, neither have had the prize in a current setting.......

The weasel gets 10 or more games. Buffalo stinks and will continue to stink. High draft picks are no sure thing especially when you draft Europeans. There is no blue chip can't miss stud in the 2014 draft. 2015 is when you want the no.1 pick. The Bills stink and will continue to stink. Both Miller and Vanek are leaving - very smart on their part. It must suck to be a Buffalo sports fan these days.

Hey Garth... I was expecting another un thought-out tirade like that about Phil Bunion but, oh yes, just Kaleta with yet another hit targeting the head of an opponent! I know, I know...the fault of the Jackets coaching staff, they knew Kaleta was on the ice and they could have put in a player with a Miley Cirus mask. Surprised Scott wasn`t put in to attack the rest of the Jackets, oh yeah, forgot about the fine and the further discipline for such fine coaching. Hmmmm.......

Thank god the Leafs are the only Toronto team I cheer for. Brutal team for a long long time. They finally look like they are on the right track and we're enjoying it. They are young and have some very good pieces in place. But it's early and no parades are being planned - yet.

Wide right was the worst, followed by the "foot in the crease".

Wide right I was a bit to young to remember exactly how bad it hurt. Plus it was a 47 yarder which is no guarantee. But the foot in the crease was bad. If overturned doesn't mean we win but that call I could not believe how blatantly wrong it was...

They failed to enforce a stupid rule. I've moved on, personally.

Right, I will agree on stupid rule but...rules are rules and that one was clear as day!
Like two line passing. When it's a rule you should darn well follow it.

It's astounding how leafs fans manage to talk smack only a year removed from your franchise being the biggest joke in the league for the better part of a decade. Also, your team is coming off the biggest postseason choke job in NHL history, yet some of you still have the stones to talk mess about the Sabres. It's borderline delusional! Oh and stop leaving your trash in our parking lots... Pretty please.
