The point is that I wish a few of our defensemen (not just Myers but mainly him) would think like a brawler would. I want them to play on the edge and break the rules. I want them to shank a guy with their stick and cause them to retaliate. Then when that induces a penalty I want them to laugh about how they got away with it.
Myers always gets the Chara comparison but I want Pronger or Weber.

That just ain't his game....Never was. I think that was a big problem with Meyers last year, they asked him to bulk up, but it slowed hum down. The Sabres drafted him based on a certain style of play and then asked him to change it. I fault management.

He definitely IMO needs to use his size, but I think the previous poster is right that maybe they arent being coached that way. Myers has been suspended for hitting before and he seems to get a penalty everytime he tries to be physical mainly because his hands and stick get so high up on every other player

that vison clicked right in my head and it seems a lot of his checks seem to come out kinda cross checkery ish esp when putting someone into the boards

I fault USA Hockey and Hockey Canada. They don't teach proper checking and when you are growing into a 6'8 frame what are you gonna do if you haven't been taught properly

I think Myers is decently physical. People want a guy like Chara back there based on his size but hes not that. Maybe he grows into it who knows. I've been happy with his play so far this season. Would like to see him put some points up but that applies to the entire team.

It's not size, it's attitude. Myers is closer to winning the Lady Byng than he is to punching a dude who is up all in the crease.

The problem with Myers is his contract. Plain and simple. At that money he has to be an All-world level player and he's not even in consideration for the Olympics and wouldn't make on All-star game if we had one.

Can't help but wonder where Grigorenko would be now if he had been able to spend a year in the AHL the way Girgensons did.

Can they send him there next year?

The thing is, if he isn't meeting those expectations, then he is a detriment to the team. While Terry may not miss the 7 Million this year, its a huge amount of wasted cap space.

I think he's intimidated by the play in the NHL. He doesn't like getting his nose dirty in the corners and along the boards. I also think his confidence took a big hit once he realized that he just can't score the way he did in the Q.

He's either got to play through it or he'll be a bust.
