Why would any hockey organization in Quebec care about helping Buffalo?
- Buffalo-Sabres

Its not about Buffalo, its about the player. Why would they want to intentionally harm one of their own player's development, you know other than being selfish.

Ehrhoff, Pysyk, Tallinder, Weber should sit too then, right? Or is this just a Myers thing?
- ImThatGuy

I stand corrected.....for some reason he just stood out the other night and the announcers noticed it and called him out on it.....

Maybe he's just not that special of a player. You can suck and still look like your putiing in 100%.

If he is special as people say, he difinately doesn't show it on the ice. Hell Gerbe wasn't very good but he tried every shift.

I tend to agree, I don't think he will ever live up to the hype, BUT that doesn't mean he isn't being negatively impacted by this atrocious transfer agreement.

Regier did apparently apply for an exception if you believe his interview on WGR a few weeks back. It sounds like the issue wasn't with the team, but with the CHL itself.

All that being said, I'd rather see Grigorenko in the press box than on the 4th line. Putting skill players with guys that can't skate makes everybody on the line an atrocious liability.

Myers' positioning has been fine, the problem is he's not standing players up really when he has the chance. I'm beginning to think he's being coached not too. Remember, Teppo Numminen is now the defense coach, and he was never really big on that as a player, especially late in his career.

I really think as a D-unit they are being coached to use their skating instead of the body to make plays. I cant tell you how often i see our D just continue to skate backwards deep the zone and let the puck carrier skate around the outside, deep into teh zone.

I would agree with that, but other than Myers and Weber, I don't see anybody on that corps I want trying it that often. I would probably have Ristolainen use his skating more this early in his career, and let the physical play come later. Pysyk would probably bounce off most people. Ehrhoff would probably get some pointless injury, while Tallinder would probably snap in half. I have no idea if McBain has a physical element to his game or not.

It's not just you. It just seems people like to focus in on Myers no matter what. The entire D has been very solid in their own zone, they just have to find the offense now.

Teppo didn't have to because he was an exceptional defenseman. He was a gifted skater and passer.

Absolutely correct. However, having every defenseman play that game is trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.

And I think that is what we are seeing be coached. Use your feet to play and less of the body.

Was thinking more of him being with some teachers on his line . Line mates to help him along I guess. When he is out there he seems lost and not sure what to do.

Didnt he get beat by a man with pink hair in less than 3 minutes once?

Speaking of which, if anyone has not seen the behind the scenes Blue and gold episode on Sabres.com. it is really good. it shows Weber teaching Risto in a preseason game.

First mistake was keeping him up here after his 9-game tryout last year.
2nd was Darcy guaranteeing him a spot when training camp wasn't over.
3rd is playing him with Scott and Kaleta.
....All coaching/management.
If the kid "brings it" in Juniors, he would probably "bring it" in Rochester.
They should have just kept him in Juniors until he was eligible to play in rochester and let him develop slowly.
Darcy probably figured he needed SOMETHING in order to sell tickets this year and now it just makes the management look even worse, if that's even possible.

I figured somone would bring that point up. Kimbo is a street brawler, MMA didn't work out for him...whatever...
The point is that I wish a few of our defensemen (not just Myers but mainly him) would think like a brawler would. I want them to play on the edge and break the rules. I want them to shank a guy with their stick and cause them to retaliate. Then when that induces a penalty I want them to laugh about how they got away with it.
Myers always gets the Chara comparison but I want Pronger or Weber.

Too me what stands out with grigorenko is a all out lack of hustle. HE hasnt played well enough to be off the 4th line. Its not like he makes all these goods plays and oh well scott or kaleta could bury the chance. He rarely makes a good nhl play. Even when he was on the pp unit time after time would force a bad pass
