The kids were great last night but everyone seems to forget how amazing Brodie has been playing. This kid is going to be one of our anchors on the blueline.
- Kevin R

Brodie has been amazing. It's only a matter of time before he gets more recognition outside of cgy. I'd go as far as saying he might be the best all round young d man in Alberta

Thanks Bix, your boy Joey has been doing well.
- Colin Dambrauskas

Joey plays a little erratic at times. He is a consistent .905 save percentage. He has to stay calm, but his nature when playing is not. He does make great saves because of his style, but will let in some not so greats as well. Never gets the love, because he has been a backup that never really got a good chance, while he was 100% healthy. But, he has played in pro hockey as a tender for years, and not many do. We are proud of his play.

Late addition:
To note; there were 17 NHL scouts at last night's game...team's will certainly be keeping a close eye on the Flames this year as they try and fill holes in their own rosters.

this is where the Burke haters don't realize how huge having him calling shots is going to help prevent Feaster getting raped & pillaged. I like several things Feaster has done but his trades have been very underwhelming overall.

rebuilding or not, the Flames are in a tough division/conference when it comes to the playoffs...with teams like Edmonton and Colorado shaping up themselvse, its going to be a fight every year to get in. That said, I think the Canucks start to drop over the next couple of years.

For sure, a Burke Feaster tandem will be nice throughout the year. As long as Burke doesnt try and rush anything to make an impression and remains patient. But so far his acquisitions from Toronto are doing quite well...still not so sure about Colborne, but theres still time for him.

I don't mind what I've seen out of Colborne... but I'm not sure he's any better than Corban Knight. If he didn't have to go through waivers I'm not sure he'd be with the big club.

i was happy by the effort of the flames... they took advantage of a very flat habs team. i cant say that they did anything over the top well, except capitalized on some incredibly bone head plays the habs did or lack there of. I was honestly thinking the habs were going to come and play, like they did vs philly and even against tdot... but it wasnt meant to be. that's 8 losses in a row my flames friends have roasted me for via text and every other social media method available. (frank)ing eh!!!!!

what i like to take from this is that both teams can build off this. flames know they have a goalie they can trust and who can make the big saves when needed. the team plays well as a 5 man unit, and ireally like how they exploited the gaps montreal afforded them. they also have to take it in, that they weathered about 10 mins of cycling in their own end.. macdonald played great and the team albeit very messily stuck together. Also monahan, great game for him!

for the habs, well they have to be embarrassed by the effort they showed. not to take away from Calgary, but this was one of those must win games for the habs if they want to stay in the hunt for the playoffs. the habs should have won easily... there was no way the flames lesser skilled and greener players should have been out working and outplaying them. the flash of brilliance they showed in the lsat half of the game was good, but ultimately you could sense and see the frustration and futility in it all. for them they have to take this loss with a grain of salt and absolutely crush the oilers... time will tell, its going to be a battle tonight, but im expecting the team they can and should be!

that said, anyone want DD?

I think what theyre hoping to get out of him is a reliable bottom six guy who can be called upon to spark some offense. With his size, hes still considered a rare commodity.

Yeah, that's no good. Listed as week to week. Blair Jones recalled, and Breen has been assigned to the Heat for a conditioning stint.

Edit: Damn it Colin....

Emile " OMG what have you done Jay" Poirier, has been named the QMJHL First Star Of The Week. Things like this are exciting to see.

in watching Calgary last night, could not help but be impressed with their compete level. Monahan is absolute stud. there are some nice pieces there to start the re-build.

Flames were full value for the win last night. better team by far save for the last 10 minutes when Montreal kicked it up a notch. i do not think that Calgary will keep this up, however. i just think that given their youth and the lack of expectations placed on them, they're playing hockey in a gear that most teams, especially veteran ones, need a good 10-15 games to get into, and they're catching teams by surprise.

I saw that too, curious to see how he progresses considering we went "way off the map" to take him.

Need two accounts to blog for both teams. Or else they would all appear in the Flames sections.

Nope...Edmonton finally puts together a couple 60 minute efforts and takes down the Habs and the Leafs in the next 2.

But they can beat the others...
