i have never understood why the team sees Gorges as anything but a third-pairing dman.
- DoubleDown

Have you seen the habs D-men? that's why...

LOL...seriously though...what are Gorges' 2 strenghts? blocking shots and taking hits...his weaknesses? everything that involves playing hockey or having the puck. So why not have him on the ice 20+ minutes...he's a good guy!

Agreed. Whomever was in the net behind that team would have lost last night. That was a collective demonstration of suck.

Halak would have won it.

You know what would really send a message to the whole team? trade Price. Maybe not today...but at some point it would send the message that management will be patient, but at some point you have to take ownership of your career and take that next step on your own.

The only problem right now is that Budaj is not the answer. But I hear Bryzgalov is wainting by the phone! (that guy would be HILARIOUS in montreal!...but on a serious note, I don't know why Edmonton hasn't signed this guy yet...).

EDIT: and this is from someone who's been somewhat supportive of Price up until last year...

If Markov buries the empty netter on the power play we win in overtime and everybody is happy this morning

don't see that accomplishing much. yes, it's the easy move. but i would rather see the team try to really focus on bringing in some new blood on defence. Rob is right. the D is stale. Markov, Bouillon, Gorges... these guys are lifers. time to move on. Diaz, just please let him go far away when his contract is up.

Calgary, by a few goals.
i don't think the goals Price gave up were that bad. i agree that he didn't bail out the defence but that doesn't mean he gave up bad goals. anyway this is why i would prefer to see him start tonight. i think the only way he gets to the level we expect him to be at is by playing 9 out of every 10 games or so. not by giving him a night off after 3 starts in 9 days.

Come on.

The Habs get 35 shots on Price and the Flames get 25 shots on Macdonald and the Flames win by a few goals?

Very true. We need to calm down, take deep breaths and take the time to see where this team is going down the road.

While remembering Desharnais sucks and should be traded for nothing.

before trading Price, i would like to see him behind a competent defence. maybe he won't be a $6.5 million Vezina candidate, but my guess is that he'd be good enough.

he bailed them out a few times last night, so how many times does he have to bail them out to be considered "once in a while"?

it's always important to try to destroy the net with the puck when you shoot. accuracy is secondary.
