Quality shots, and odd-man rushes where he had to make some difficult saves.
The quantity doesn't always tells you all.
You can have a "bombardment" of 45 shots, if they all are perimeter shots, or in the chest, does it mean the goalie had a stellar game? - stinger67
You mean, like this?

can't expect a goalie to never give up rebounds. it's going to happen. you need defenceman to clear those rebounds. in all honesty, who had the pooptier go of it last night:
Price? or the defencemen? - DoubleDown
Both.
But Price needs to bail out the d once in a while, and not after he's let 2 bad ones in, maybe before for a change.
And yes, they were bad ones, the TSN panel even pointed them out.
And yes, the team was flat from the get go.
Let me ask you this, if they switched goalies who wins that game?

Well if he's going to play like last night, I'd rather have a Pateryn or a Beaulieu in the lineup. - Scabeh
agree on Pateryn, less so Beaulieu. would be more than happy to see Pateryn step in for Bouillon or Diaz. |

At this point it is not an excuse but a fact, the defense sucks. - Oilhab
know why the D sucks? Gorges and Bouillon are prominently involved. I like those two guys as much as anyone...and Bouillon probably more than most...but they can't play as much as they do if you want to win.

I agree with this.
Price needs to start winning games for the team instead of just not losing them... if that makes sense. - Scabeh
Sure does, it is back to the era where a great goalie performance is the only way we could hope for a win becuase the team sucked so bad.

i just think heaping blame on the goalie ignores the team's true deficiency. - DoubleDown
agreed - i dont think it would have really mattered who you had in net last night...we wouldn't have won that game. Only difference is the score may have been a lot worse.
I don't have any big issues with price's play this season so far - end of last season though........ |

markov is broken and old
diaz doesn't belong on any good defense
Subban is trying to do it all by himself and ends up looking like a headless chicken
majority of the forwards are too small or slow or soft to make a difference defensively'

Calgary, by a few goals.
i don't think the goals Price gave up were that bad. i agree that he didn't bail out the defence but that doesn't mean he gave up bad goals. anyway this is why i would prefer to see him start tonight. i think the only way he gets to the level we expect him to be at is by playing 9 out of every 10 games or so. not by giving him a night off after 3 starts in 9 days. |

i have never understood why the team sees Gorges as anything but a third-pairing dman. |

he bailed them out a few times last night, so how many times does he have to bail them out to be considered "once in a while"? |

Ok ok you win Price is the bestest the Vezina should juste be handed to him after all the stellar performances he's offered only to be wasted by the worst defense in NHL history. |

When they were able to hold keep teams on the perimeter, he was a blocking machine.... that one year.... yes asp that means they spent alot of time in their end getting shot at. |

yeah... he's reliable and can log a lot of minutes but he really adds nothing in terms of offense and it's not like he does anything special in terms of gaining possession in the defensive zone.
basically on a team that sucks and takes a lot of penalties he blocks shots. |

Agreed. Whomever was in the net behind that team would have lost last night. That was a collective demonstration of suck. |
