Grossmann is one of my favorite defenders on this team. Much rather see Meszaros or Coburn traded. But Schenn is the best Hitting Defenseman. Grossmann is a close second.

I don't think Dustin Byfuglien's ever eaten a wafer-thin anything.

In very, very large quantities, maybe.

You're overvaluing his "strengths" imo. Being able to and willing to sacrifice your body to block a shot is admirable and a trait I want. It becomes an issue (to me) when it's your only line of defense. Courageous does not necessarily equal good.

Well then let's toss his useless self away for some 6th rounders.

Grossmann is not a top pairing guy, but he is a solid 2nd pairing guy almost league wide. His limitations are his passing and shooting and Skating. However he makes up for the skating by being in good positions. His cap hit is low league wide for what he does. The Flyers would have no trouble moving him.

You can just say, "I value hits and blocked shots more" and we can politely move on.

You argued he had no value ("if they'd take his contract off our hands"), or that he would be hard to move. I simply stated that, if you give any heed to his strengths, that's not the case.
You may be the most negative person on this board, and that's coming from a negative guy. I may overvalue him, which is natural to do. I'll admit it, I might. Would you admit you undervalue you him? or do you want to win the argument that badly?

does Giroux have a no trade?
- vejim

No-move clause. BTW, his cap hit goes up to $8.275m next year, with a $5m signing bonus.

At $3.5 million per, yes, I feel that his contract outweighs his on-ice value.

As for me being negative, fair enough. I just feel like I have different opinions of some aspects of the team compared to the majority in here and bring them up for discussion.

If you prefer a daily Giroux circle-jerk (when he finally starts playing well again), that's just not my cup of tea.

They wont. They will go to season ticket holders, and like in NJ there will be a contest for everyone else.

I know I'm a little late to the party, but, regarding the columnists questioning Berube about punishing Rosehill...I don't really have a problem with the question. The Flyers made a point of saying that with the coaching change players are now going to be held accountable for their actions; as if Laviolette wasn't doing this. In the new coaches first game a player does something very undisciplined and puts a very close game in jeopardy. As Bill suggests, maybe the question was asked in a snarky way and the columnist was goading Berube. Regardless, I don't think it's such a crazy question considering the circumstances and could have been diffused easily by saying something like, "we deal with player discipline privately and don't discuss it with the press". That being said, I don't mind or blame Berube for answering the way he did. He's a macho guy and if someone swings at him he's going to swing back. It all makes for good entertainment. We haven't seen this kind of back and forth with the media since Pronger got hurt.

I was thinking the same thing, but I would need MJL to confirm. Isnt there a certain age you have to be before you can get a NMC? Isnt that how they were able to move Frick and Frack?

I was a season ticket holder for 27 years, I wonder if Eddie would make an exception?
