Well, for equal value, no. But yes, you could move him (dump him, if you will) rather easily. If you say "Hey, we have a guy with bad knees," then no, you can't. But if you say, "Any interest in a stay-at-home defender who hits like a train and is in the top-1o in shot blocks every year despite having to wear knee braces," then yes, he becomes more attractive. It's all a matter of what you need and what attributes you are looking for.

Cheaper. less risky alternatives could also be available, is all I'm saying.

Well, when you see James Neal traded for Gogligowski (sp)... You can see how it could happen...

Less risky, but not as good. There's a reason he's playing and Hal Gill is not. You act like he's been crippled and lacks any ability to skate. He's actually a pretty solid top-4 defenseman. He just comes with a caveat is all.

Apples to oranges.

Goligoski already had an established NHL track record, and James Neal was not a 20-year-old a year removed from being the #1 overall pick.

That was one of the worst deals of the post-Milbury era I've seen. The crap return Calgary got for Phaneuf was up there too. It was more quantity than quality.

Dealing from desperation is not really a good look.

I don't want the Flyers dealing anybody right now and I especially am not interested in Dustin Byfuglien.

I agree. How about we let this current group have an (almost) full season under Berube and see where they are in March.

I think Grossmann has been the Flyers best defenseman so far this year. Why would we want to move him?

Lets send Coburn to Edmonton for whatever they will give us, and see if we can get away with sending whatever edmonton gives us, plus Laughton for Gardiner.

I wouldn't mind making some changes on the Fly. I like the way the defense has performed, but I would like to see some changes. Lets face it; Timonen and Streit are old. And while Coburn, Meszaros, and Grossmann are mid aged for NHL players, they do have a lot of miles on them.

With Morin, Hagg, Ghost, and Alt as possible future players, and Guss just sitting on the bench, I'm not sure what needs to be done, but I still wouldnt mind a slight change.

Grossman has had some great moments and not so great moments. I'm hoping to see the defense as a whole improve under the chief. I may be wrong but I'm expecting a turnaround soon from our top players. Still not crazy about the hartnell Giroux Simmonds line, though.

Some people would rather emphasize his weaknesses and ignore his strengths and the lament his cap hit.

Id like to see Gus out there. I imagine a trade will happen eventually to get him in the lineup. Makes no sense to sit him every game.

Lets be honest here... Giroux and Hartnell have looked horrible so far this year. Totally killing my fantasy team.

Well Streit's not going anywhere any time soon. I think the Flyers tried to move Meszaros and couldn't. Coburn had his best game in about 2 years last game (his goal not included) so let's see if he can build on it. I'm not opposed to a shake up, but not a shake up for the sake of a shake up (the Bobby Clarke mentality). But if the team truly believes a proposed trade will benefit them, and does not prompt a deeper weakness elsewhere, I'm all for it.

Where did I overvalue him? He is the best hitting defenseman on our team (not most frequent, but hardest). He was leading the league in shot blocks when he went down last year. Do you disagree?

He obviously has the caveat, which I've stated, that he has bad knees. Guess Eric Lindros was useless after his rookie year due to his having to wear knee braces too. So yes, let's trade our useless good for nothing Grossmann for a seventh so we never have to see him again.

Grossmann is one of my favorite defenders on this team. Much rather see Meszaros or Coburn traded. But Schenn is the best Hitting Defenseman. Grossmann is a close second.

You're overvaluing his "strengths" imo. Being able to and willing to sacrifice your body to block a shot is admirable and a trait I want. It becomes an issue (to me) when it's your only line of defense. Courageous does not necessarily equal good.

If your video game's AI accepts these trades, then good for you.
