I think I'd throw up a little if he became a Flyer. I don't have a rational reason for disliking him.. I just despise him. And I will now pray to God.. in fact I will pray to every God I've ever heard of that he doesnt become a Flyer. God, Yahweh, Zeus, Odin, Cthulhu etc...
- Doc_Sarcasm

There were a few guys I despised even after they joined the Flyers-Randy Holt, Ulf Samuelsson, Billy Tibbetts-but I don't have any real dislike for Phaneuf.

The Flyers have one good defensive center on the current roster. BSchenn is not the kind of player who could take over his role playing against other team's top lines and killing penalties. Couturier should only be traded if Laughton comes up next year and outplays him and makes him redundant.
- Feanor

honestly, our team defense should get better (without the racehorse system in place), Talbot can play that role (3rd line center) just as effective, it's not about "dumping" Couts, it's more about what do we have that we could spare? (that another team would want for a solid young defenseman?

Giroux & Vinny are locks on the top 2 lines, Schenn Couts & Laughton & Talbot prefers center over wing, so how do you improve the D?

He was hurt and Chicago pounded him in the finals.

I haven't seen the Bruins yet this season since they have only played a couple games so far.

Pittsburgh was another team that targeted him heavy

The goal given up was on the power play and a newly acquired overage D-man was slow getting to his area.

Ice looks bad in Sarnia, puck is bouncing fairly often.

It's very encouraging to see him improving and how well he adjusted since he joined London.

Right now he's the only one who has shown up for London tonight & is keeping them in the game.

I get this is a joke, but don't lie, a Phaneuf-Byfuglien pairing sounds scary as hell.

Good lord.

Buffalo is down 4-1 at the beginning of the 2nd. There is a team that needs a major overhaul.

Getting Vanek for cheap would give us that one-dimensional goal scorer that would help. (jus sayin')

Is Ehrhoff that much of an upgrade over anything we have? I know little about him.

They are already in full rebuild. Trade Miller and Vanek for prospects and picks and it's a full teardown. As long as you don't delay it for years like Calgary, it's not a bad way to go.

I would not be surprised if that happened TBH. Just wonder what we'd give up and if it would help.

Better playmaker than Streit. He would be a sound replacement for Timonen in my opinion.

Only concern is the length of his deal. Under contract until 2021, but at @4mil it's good value for the next few years.

For Vanek, knowing Buffalo's needs? Probably one of BSchenn or Coots, prospects, and or picks. The price might be a little steep, but Vanek is a top goal scorer with average centers. If he was on G's wing, he'd be a 40+ goal scorer easily.

Well, the issue i'd have is the high price to get him along with the fact that we wouldn't have the cap to re sign him. Trading Cooter or B Schenn for him wouldn't work... I would however be very interested in Tyler Myers.. they'd be idiots to trade a young promising guy like him, but we need to start addressing the D.

I am sure that this has been posted, but some interesting comments from Joe Thornton about Hertl scoring 4 goals and what he would do if he had scored 4.

This is hilarious. I love it. Such sarcastic vitriol towards the media....I'd love that to happen to Pannotch!!

I don't think he's a better playmaker then Streit is. I'd like him better because he's younger and cheaper, and is better defensively then Streit is

I never liked him either. There's only a couple Flyers who I didnt care for. I barely remember Linseman's first go-round with the team, but I do remember the second, and by that time I absolutely couldnt stand him. Billy Tibbets should never have been a Flyer and in my idiot opinion he should've been an inmate somewhere with razor wire and armed guards.

It was hard to hate the guy who was impersonating Ulf Samuelsson on the Flyers, because he just didnt resemble the guy who I'd come to loathe over the years. I don't know who he really was or what he did with the real Ulf, but he could've stayed. I'd have been ok with that.

Honestly, I don't remember Randy Holt at all... and Marc Bureau's tenure as a Flyer is a hazy memory.
