I'll take Timonen even at 39 over Byfuglien at any point.

You mean in 2 years when he is 30 and his contract is up? I dont know thats WAY to far down the road to think about.....
- youarewrong

And you're willing to assume the risk he doesn't break down in the next two years.

I'm not.

The last thing we need in this forum is a Peca-MJL fight.

I don't have a problem with adding Buff for say, B Schenn as long as they turn around and move one of the other D man (probably Coburn) for a top 6 forward to replace B Schenn. Unlikely, I know. But I would be okay with the move in that scenario.

Buff(alo) for Streit.

Salaries wash.

If you look at his number so far he hasn't dropped off. And Yes I would be willing to take that risk, if this team proves that it can adapt to Berube's style of more responcible defensive play from the forwards, and it proves they can start scoring again. I think it owuld put the team back into contention.

You have an obvious bias against the player.

Wow, Byfuglien has a smaller cap hit than Streit. Yikes....

No way.

It's got nothing to do with the fact Timonen is currently playing with the Flyers even if he's clearly washed up.

Mind you, I used to like Timonen style of play, but quite frankly, he's pretty much done at this point.

I was sarcastically saying that the contract is only 2 more years, and he will only be 30 by the time its over. Its not like a 4-7 year deal where he will be 36-37 when it expires.... I was saying there is little risk of the drop off happening within these next 2 years and even if it does, its not a long term crippling contract.

If he does get traded to the Flyers (I doubt it), his cap hit automatically raises 15%. That's a carryover rule from the previous CBA.

Yeah, Buff's production has actually been increasing in recent seasons, and he hasn't been injury prone really, so I'm not sure where this getting older, breaking down etc., concern is coming from...you wanna talk about age related decline? Timonen (love the guy, but yeah, it's getting to be an issue).

Does that rule have a name or a number?
