The answer is, "No, fold the team." Only way to change the culture.

It's pure hypocrisy.

They acknowledge players on the Flyers have strengths and flaws, and accept both. But a player on another team excels at some things but also comes with flaws -- DON'T WANT.

- bradleyc4

If you tell me that he is committed to fitness, I won't be any more or less critical about his limitations as I am about anyone else's -- for example, I, for one, have been clear that I think Mark Streit's defensive limitations are more than offset by his ability to move the puck, and on the third pairing where you can shield his matchups, that's what they need.

That's all it is with me -- if he's committed to getting himself at a conditioning level that is fair to expect to play the game, I, for one, won't automatically kill him for anything that he does -- because as you noted, all players have limitations. Every single one.

Like, for instance, Zac Rinaldo and Maxime Talbot should never, ever ever, be played above the fourth line. (JOKES, PEOPLE! BACK AWAY FROM THE KEYBOARD! )

He finished (FINISHED!) last season at 302 lbs.

Forget about what he came in at at camp.

He finished the season at 302 lbs.

As he gets older, explain how that gets better.

At this pace, early next year he could be the franchise right guard the Eagles need?

Blues/Hawks replay on NHL Network right now if anyone care to watch two organizations that have built great teams through the draft.

His weight is not an afterthought. But he's produced despite his frame. No reason why that can't continue here for the next 2.5 years until his contract is up.

But hey, the Winnipeg press is never unjustly critical of Jets players.

He's good on the PK. That's about it.

I wouldn't pay $3.5 million for a 3rd pairing PKer who can't move. But it's clear I'm in the minority here.

- bradleyc4

You may be in the minority, but you're not alone -- I like what Nicklas Grossmann does, but at some point, you do have to be able to move well enough to play the game.

I mean, come on, folks. Ignore the Flyers for a moment. Let's talk basketball. You can't have a basketball team composed entirely of players who can't shoot.

The Flyers...have a lot of defensemen who don't move well. We shouldn't keep them all -- and I'm prepared to see any one of them not in the lineup at any given day/time.

Flyers tried that.. they ended up with Luke Schenn instead of Kane. I don't think Chi would be as successful if the draft order was reversed.. they could be, but having Kane sure helps with it.

I'm not sour over it really, but you stared it like they do a better job.. having 1st overall helps with that also. But they do a better job in general

Me neither.

And I don't disagree that the numbers he produces would be great to have.

But not at the price you have to pay for a player that, when he declines, will not just decline gracefully, but likely fall off a cliff.

You did. I didn't say blocked shots are bad, nor have I ever. I said if you're leading the league in blocked shots, it's an issue. It means the opposition has the puck a lot more than your team, when you're on the ice. That's not a good thing.
- bradleyc4

This is true. Why can't we acknowledge this is true?

Hits mean you don't have the puck. Blocked shots mean the other team is shooting.

Can't we all agree, please, that if you're leading the league in both of those categories, you don't have the puck nearly as much as you'd like?

Please? Please, can we do this? Just for my sanity?

Put JVR with Toews and I wonder how that works out.

Plus I bet JVR would still be a Hawk.

My issue is we don't have a d-man that would could pair with him to let him free roam. Timo 5 years ago would be nice.

In what way is this common knowledge. I've asked for examples and you've provided me none. You may believe it's common knowledge but it's just your conjecture and not the truth.
