Callahan is a third line player?

I've said it before and I'll say it once again, I have no problem having a team full of Ryan Callahan's. He embodies everything a hockey player should be.

Can you imagine the proverbial sh!t storm that will take place if this team is out of it by the Olympics?

Eek, looking likely too... but it'd be good to dump some players before the deadline and start 14/15 season brand spanking new

I think so... a great 3rd liner, but he isn't a goal scorer and not a 2nd line guy for me. I also compare him to other captains and think he is a little overrated unfortunately

This might be the first time I've heard this actually. I agree to a point that Callahan is a great third line player on a deep team but he certainly can score goals. Consider this: Callahan's career goals-per-game rate is 0.30. The following players all have similar rates in their respective careers to date.
Loui Eriksson - 0.30
Nathan Horton - 0.34
Jamie Benn - 0.31

I would guess that each of those players are considered at least 2nd line talent.

Also, the guy he is compared to most often statistically and with regards to their style of play, Dustin Brown, is at 0.28.

Since first and second line players are expected to contribute offensively I would say that Callahan produces up to reasonable expectations for a second line player.

One positive to take away from Tuesday night's debacle in San Jose. We were the first team to score more than one goal against the Sharks this year.

Rewind to opening night: Martin Hanzal hammers Derek Stepan with a clean hit near the bench. Nash, despite not being noted as a fighter, immediately went to confront Hanzal and dropped the gloves with him.

So when Nash gets hit, and knocked out of the game, no one does anything about it aside from Asham kind of sniffing around and then Boyle kind of roughing Stuart up. All I have to say is WTF.

I don't think you can overstate the disadvantage the Rangers are at starting the first full month on the road for the second year in a row. It can't be easy physically or mentally to be out of your element full time for the month. They need to be just ok this month so they aren't completely buried. And if they do, the team building they do on this meander through the league will pay dividends as these season goes on.

It is a problem

I'd say earliest we see him back in action is next Saturday against Jersey. I think they play three games from tonight until that game.

What has me concerned is not when he will return rather how long he will stay in the lineup when does return. Concussions are so difficult to gauge and apparently it won't take much for Nash to be taken out of the game.

I don't know...I hope it wasn't a realization that shyt our best player is out, we have no chance....so lets just go through the motions.

I've been a long time fan, I get discouraged sometimes, when healthy they are contenders for sure

This is false Cranford and Gio all mentioned it before whether they were joking may be another story but they believed the Rangers are top in the league

Being contenders isn't proclaiming the Cup, there are more than a half dozen other teams that can win, playing the 2nd most playoff games in the past 2 years helps a long way, It's the Isles fans proclaiming their return to glory after the 8th place finish

Glen I couldn't believe it myself. You're getting killed, at least stick up for your top forward, who cares if you get thrown out or they go on a long power play. There is no excuse for it.

I know people had different opinions on that goal, I was one who didn't care for it and I thought that was another point where they could have gone out and had a fight or line someone up and nothing again. Show a frankin pulse at least, ridiculous.
