Sean Avery, too. Guy stood up for teamates and had skills. Guess there's no need for these players on the team, eh? - mames11
if Sean Avery concentrated on being a hockey player 100% of the time he'd still be playing.

Larry Brooks is also a big headline grabber though. He always goes a little too above and beyond the actual issue; to stir up a conversation about this team. There is merit in suggesting this team is not tough enough or big enough to hang with a team like Boston but I am going to let the season play out, a little longer than a week, before I form an opinion on where this team is headed. - MidnightMarauder
Talk about people not being able to let Torts go, Larry Brooks seems like he has lost his own identity without him. |

I know, it's true. This schedule has me feeling like the team is playing in another world. Although, I do still feel we have a few holes. |

who is the f'tard who gave you guys 9 straight road games to begin the season? are there renovations going on at MSG or something? |

The gap in $$$ was not enough to let him go to Montreal, IMO. I thought the idea of signing Boyle to his current contract was to keep him and Prust together a few more years. When Prust left, I immediately thought it was going to impact Boyle; and did it ever. - mames11
Prust really fit in here and that line with Prust-Boyle and Fedotenko was as good a third line as there was in the league.
As much as Prust is missed, 10 million for a player that gets injured way too often and produces very little, didn't make sense to Sather.
This team had an identity with Tortorella but it took time. We should all give Vigneault more than one week, and two terrible hockey games, before we start to break out the surrender towels. |

I don't think Larry liked Torts too much. Torts gave him an earful a few times on MSG. |

I can't help but wonder about the team having a closed during meeting already that Glen Sather was apart of. It's still a bit of an eye opener for me. |

No matter how they get there, if they can finish this trip with at least four wins, they will be just fine.

Avery was like the top earning mobster, whose antics become too much for the boss, so he had to go. |

I like it though; Sather usually is golfing his life away this time of year. The pressure is seemingly on for Slats and to be humiliated in such grand fashion was just as alarming to the brass as it was to the fans. |

That's the disconnect I'm talking about. In both cases Sather felt they were being overpaid, so he let them walk. Sometimes there's no measuring what guys like Prust and Orr mean to a team. Even folks on this site saying Prust and Orr received to much money, to many years. Well, I assure you, if Orr and or Prust were still around we wouldn' be talking about no one stood up for Nash.
Larry Brooks sure put things in perspective in his column this morning. What I took away from it was, my mantra since last summer. Rangers are not big enough, fast enough, or tough enough to win a cup. - OLDSCHOOL#6

what's crazy is the last 4 years, it's just been Torts and Sullivan, that's it.
Now, we have a new head coach and like a bus load full of assistants and Glen Sather is making himself more visible.
I'd to see Vigneault as more of the "HNIC" |

It doesn't affect the Knicks and that is what Dolan and Co. really care about anyway. He couldn't even stay for the entirety of Alain Vigneault's press conference. Bet your bottom dollar if that was a Knicks head coach press conference; he would be there for post press dinner.
Rangers are second class citizens in their own arena. |

Possible solutions:
Not big enough - Krieder, McIlrath
Not Fast enough - Krieder
Not tough enough - McIlrath
Hmmm.... |

It's a culture shock for us fans because Tortorella has such an overbearing personality and that's all we knew for the last four plus seasons.
Vigneault seems to be a very mild mannered head coach and his assistants seem the same way. I am not going to criticize the staff; I was supportive of all the hires from day one. I am not going to rescind now because of the pasting they took in San Jose. |

Agree 110% here. It's only one game. Though, a bad one; it was only one game. |

My fearless forecast for several prospects: Kredier and Miller will be here before Thanksgiving & McIlrath will be here after the Olympics. |

They win tonight and maybe get a point in St. Louis, San Jose is forgotten in my opinion.
The key here is for that game to not accent this road trip. |
