You only deal your first for a difference maker if I'm Gillis, he's been burnt before. No need to repeat history.
- LeftCoaster

I'd be willing to move my first for a good young player easily(preferaly a forward though). Especially since this upcoming draft isn't considered to be as strong as 2013 or 2015. That's just an assumption though.

I think I'm just higher on Gardiner than most Canuck fans here.

I sure hope so, he's been one of their best players and they can give him plenty of ice time.

Honestly, I don't recall anybody "rubbing any noses." Could have missed them, I guess.

I recall a few having issues with people saying Kesler isn't a 2nd liner.

It's really not surprising that Kesler isn't back in "Keslord" form, considering his and the team's situations.

- Fosco

He could very well be one of those guys that doesn't thrive under Torts - although you would think it wouldn't be apparent quite yet.

If Santorelli gets 10 - 15 goals this season good move by Gillis. If he gets 20+ Gillis looks like a genius.

I'll be happy if he gets more than Raymond.

I was honestly stale to the idea of having Torts as a coach in the beginning. I completely repelled it and prayed it was true.

Im having second thoughts.

After I heard what he did in Calgary, And the way the team responded, I just might be a believer.

I hear your optimism but let's wait until we've beaten some decent opponents.

Not to ruin the parade but we got spanked by SJ, whooped a potential lottery team, beat the consensus team to finish last in the west in OT, and then beat a patchwork of UFAs who also make most people's lower rung of the Easter Conference predictions (also in OT).

I don't think it's pessimistic to say the jury's still out on this team.

We did have a tendency to give up but we also had a number of third period comebacks when we were motivated. You want to impress a new coach so you work hard, particularly a loud coach, but the end I would prefer to win outright and consistently.

Thank god AV is gone - albeit 2 years too late. He could never adjust and you see that every time he got a new player- most struggled to produce with him. Plus you look at him now and he doesn't have bowness for the d and he is sucking it. My hunch sather gases him around April if Richards and Nash don't light it up.

Kessler is just warming up in my opinion. He will get stronger as the year progresses.

Nice to see Jagr but surprised how much of a hook and grabber he is. Since he is a 90's superstar he is used to it but it is like he missed the memo on obstruction, and all the refs look the other way.

Alberta has the highest rate of syphilis in Canada, and apparently gonorrhea is also “on the rise.”

Hopefully his career does not get side tracked.

We have to complain about something. If Kesler had 3 goal and Santorelli 0 we would be female doging about Gillis not doing anything to help the team. We have to face the fact that we are crappy fans, but we care about the team or we wouldn't be here.

You hit the nail on the head here. I guess reading all these comments I am correct to assume Kesler is the new Raymond? I remember before Kesler started putting up points when he was in his early 20's how many people said he'd never amount to much more than a defensive 3LC who maxed out at 30-40 pts a year. Fans are truely a what have you done for me lately type personality and forget how much a player gives to the team year in, year out. From the first time I saw that guy on the ice I could tell he plays his heart out, points or no points he does what he can to help the team and hates losing and as fans that's all we can ask. There are lots worse athletes than Kesler who do despicable things outside the game they play, and personally I could care less how he is off the ice.

Not a fan of the local media either. I would love for someone to donkey punch Tony Gallagher. They would rather report about what is wrong and yell about the doom and gloom than report on the positives (IMO Stanton, Santorelli, come from behind wins).

In reference to Kesler, it is the same thing how people were yelling and screaming Torts was a bad hire and are now praising him as the Messiah. It is game 5 tonight, lets see what Kesler does around game 10-15 once they have established the lines.

I am more curious about what Kesler shows up tonight against SJ.

Hmmmm. Being honest and stating that Kesler has been not playing well so far this season does not make one a crappy fan. Noticing that Kesler has produced his best in the past at wing and is not always an ideal center, IMO, would be the observation of a good fan, a hockey fan. He (Kesler) deserves to be called out a bit -- if he's still playing poorly after 10 games or so. To this point he hasn't helped the Canucks much offensively, has he?

I'm probably the last guy who would defend Kesler here, but the coach seems pretty happy with his play so far, at least that is the vibe I get from his (Tortarella's) comments.

Yeah, and he should be when you look at his actual play, the goals and points will follow suit if he keeps it up.

I just like to disagree with the majority. I was leading the trade Kesler charge, but now that there are a few on the bus, I may go back to Kesler for Captain!

In the sense that Kesler plays hard and well defensively, I can see why Tortorella is fine with his play to date. I haven't heard him say he is happy with his offensive play however.
