Yeah, I'm guilty of that sometimes.

Apologies.

Garrison was on the bench for a while on the PP before he was given some scraps by AV. I was in disbelief as much as Gillis had to be after he brought this player in to be used the way Torts actually is.
- boonerbuck

I was happy when we signed Garrison, and was like everyone else scratching my head when AV did not use him the way he should have been. I am glad the AV time is over, and like how Torts gave everyone a clean slate.

I only wish Torts was here when we had Grabner and Hodgson, would be curious to see how he would have handled them. Even Ballard under different coaches.

Since they're one dimensional offensive players that never backcheck or block shots, I doubt Hodsgon or Grabner would ever have thrived under Torts and would have been his Chris Kreiders in Vancouver. Ballard on the other hand probably would not have ended up being compliance bought out.

You know - if this team had an actual second line they'd be dangerous!!

Grabner is going to have a lot to show AV now.

I know. It was funny the other day how Kesler's biggest fans swarmed in here to rub all the critics noses in the fact that he had a big game. They act like its the other way around where he has a less than stellar game once and a while and the critics come out.... unfortunately, its been the other way around the last couple of years.

I was already thinking he may not be as healthy as we hoped. We know what he's capable of and usually the questions are eventually answered when we are told he had been playing hurt.

Honestly, I don't recall anybody "rubbing any noses." Could have missed them, I guess.

I recall a few having issues with people saying Kesler isn't a 2nd liner.

It's really not surprising that Kesler isn't back in "Keslord" form, considering his and the team's situations.

I don't recall anyone saying that either. I know that I said that he isn't a 2nd line center. As far as I'm concerned, he's got the skillset to be an elite top 6 RW or a checking line center... and I think my post this morning backs up that opinion. In his current role, he doesn't produce @ ES & he definitely doesn't make his linemates better. That is not a top 6 centerman IMO.

What do you mean Money Ball Gillis got us Higgins Booth (who now plays 4 th ) Pinizzotto Sestito Weise . If that doesn't scream 2 nd line nothing does.

Hypothetical

Would trading Kesler, Higgins & Burrows for (Columbus) Anisimov, Umberger & Johanson set us back - move us forward - or be a lateral move?

Daniel Henrik Hansen
Umberger Anisimov Kassian
Booth Johanson Santorelli
Richardson Dalpe Weise

??? - just wondering

A team ripe for trading would be Rangers or Flyers.

That trade I proposed makes us a much bigger team and better balanced, also, a better playoff team IMO.

This may be hyperbole, but I think the whole "Keslord" thing is a myth propagated on one good shift, not even one good series. The goal he scored against Nashville going between Weber and Suter has turned him into something he can never live up to IMO.

Booner said Kesler is a 3rd line center.

Booth on the 4th line? Breaking news to me. He's 5th in 5v5 ice time among forwards. Not too mention that he looks better than last year so far.

Agreed. And to pick up on what DCT/Booner said, yes I'm one of those Kesler fans that enjoys seeing him have a good game. I have seen multiple posters here call him a 3rd line center(unless my sarcasm radar is way off) and I disagree with that.

That was a small sample of the entire series. Kesler was amazing that entire series. Weber, Suter and Trotz admitted they couldn't stop him. But I agree the keslord thing is overhyped

I love the fact that we continue to rally when scored upon first or down by a couple. Great way to build character. But the canucks can't continue digging early holes and expect to dig out of them against good teams. And whille the edm opening goal was very weak and the crappy bounce last night is just bad luck, they need to more to grab control of the game against weak teams.
