All I can say is that I like what I see from Islanders so far in three games. It is too early to decide who is best or not. Let's give them several games to determine what they are made of. Regin, I wouldn't say that I love him already. It is just one game. I like what I see in Donovan. I hope we would keep him for a long time especially how he shoots the puck. Impressive! Can you imagine if this lineup will be like by the end of the season?

this message board is great.
Last year - all Bailey and Nielsen haters. Now you cant find one negative comment.
this year - Hate Regin, Hickey, Strait. Regin Scores, he is now off the list. LOL.

But enough about that.
The guys that have most impressed me this season not named Tavares.

1st star - Fran Nielsen - He doing it all. He has always been a great centre but he have way more confidence in his offensive game this year. His passes were more impressive than they goals scored last night.
2nd Star Grabner - He looks stronger and he given it all on ever shift.
3rd star Nabakov - he has looked great in all 3 games. Unfortunate for us. Cappy will burn him out and there will be a game he shelled in near future. I hope it not this friday.

If we going to be successful, we need incorporate poulin with some starts.

Finally, How about them Rangers. Im still baffled how all the guys on TSN, NHL still rank the rangers ahead of us. I cant wait till the all swallow there words.

And thats fine... Id take AMac cuz he is gonna help the Isles now more then Hickey would. By the time Hickey may be ready, the Isles have a lot of other kids that are better and have size.

But on getting waived prior to NHL experience... I guess the Kings saw what the Isles havent seen yet. Cuz all I see is a small dman that can skate and pass. Doesnt really do anyhing else for me... But with that being said I hope he proves me wrong.

The Kings defense the last few seasons was arguably the deepest in the NHL. Not exactly an easy unit to crack.

That may be the case... But he was a #5 overall pick. You just dont give up on a #5 pick for no reason. They saw something they didnt like, could be that he simply wasnt taking the next step in his growth.

AMac is far from perfect but he's currently tied for second in the league, while finishing the previous two seasons tied for third and fifth in the league. He's a shot blocker.

Playing on a team that gives up A LOT of shots over the years, I'm sure that's bound to happen. Especially considering the last team leader not named MacDonald was second in the league in that category. Hey, it's a decent mark of a guy willing to literally lay it all on the ice, but I don't think that's a terribly difficult stat to replace, especially considering his linemate is typically only 4-5 blocks behind him.

Yeah, he broke his ankle and then suffered a second injury there. The Kings saw his ELC contract expiring and needed to determine if he'd crack their lineup in three years or expose him to waivers.
I will say that Hickey was a reach at #4. I don't think anyone had him near that high on their board, but he was seen by scouts as a potential pp qb with excellent puck skills and composure and decent grit. I'd still say I could see him becoming a better dman than Amac.

Fransy going banana's this year! Haha. Showing some grit. Love it.

He's been excellent to say the least so far this season. I know many of you think he's a #3 center, but how many #2 centers are better than he is all around? The guy does everything. PP, PK, shootouts, Selke conversation, puts up 45 points or thereabouts. Not many #2 centers are that versatile.

Not sure he will be the king anymore with this system. As an Isles fan I love AV.

here's the thing with shot blocking..its not all of the equation but it is part of it...if Amac could clear the puck out of his own end and also have the ability to carry the puck up ice he wouldn't be facing as many shots to block...one of the reasons "shot blocking teams" block a ton of shots is that don't possess the puck enough

I think that's a bit of a stretch. There's four other guys responsible for clearing the puck not to mention a goalie that could be giving up rebounds when he should be trapping the puck and covering it...not to mention other variables.

I'm no MacDonald lobbyist, but I just think that's a reach for a reason to knock him. He's a serviceable lower-pairing defenseman that is playing over his ceiling right now.

No one disputes he's being misused my problem is I don't think he's even a low pairing dman. He is like if matt moulson turned into a defenseman. Being out of position is one thing being completely incapable of coming out from behind your own net with the puck is a whole other thing.

I don't get what all the fuss over Amac is. We all know he isn't a top pair defenseman. he never was. but he's playing those type of minutes against top end talent every night. he's being asked to do moremore than he should be. I figured all isles fans have figured that out by now... later on down the line, I wouldn't mind him in the 5-7 dman role with less minutes. Let's not jump all over the guy. he's had ups and downs.

the clutterbuck thing is tricky. it sucks that someone has to sit, but it's a good problem. I said this in the other thread, but I think if regin stays healthy he's the real deal. he's very skilled and was drafted high for that reason. He started slow, but let's give it time. he was one of the best forwards last night. as the third line center role, I told my friend I expect a 15-20 goal, 45 point season from him, and I'm sticking to that, barring any injury of course. I'm disappointed with pmb, I thought he was gonna kill it with jt. I was very wrong. if clutterbuck is put with regin, he's gonna open more space and regin will excel. having pmb as an extra forward is a good thing btw. good depth.
