So you think the Oilers should? Trade a 1st overall still on his ELC for a 8 million dollar one dimensional player and Kadri? That would be piss poor asset management. FYI, Kessel isn't coveted outside of Toronto.

OK Matt, you wouldn't trade Yak for Kessel and Kadri. 10-4

I would, if this was baseball.

Explain to me how it makes sense for the Oilers.

Every fan thinks they can pry away someone else's best young players. Kessel is a good player and a better scorer right now, but Yakupov has more elements to his game, is incredibly talented, cheaper, and has every potential to be as good of a scorer as Kessel in the future. I dont care for Kadri at all.

I like debate, but I doubt he thinks he could get Pat Kane or John Tavares for the same deal, and yet the Oilers should give up their 1st Overall for it.

I get a kick out of how incredulous it seems to them that anyone would turn down an offer to take on 64 Million dollars of Kessel and Kadri for the measly price of a recent 1st overall pick on his ELC.

Well yeah if you wanna use, intelligence, objectivity, foresight and common sense.....obviously most people are incapable of such qualities when it comes to debating hockey trades, and life in general.

100% agree.

TO and EDM are not a fit, and Yak will score 40 in the next few years. If they deal him, it's for a young #1D on a longterm contract

The only answer for dmen in the summer was Streit, Muzzin and Pietrelangelo. The price being higher as you go along.

Streit would have required MacT to be more aggressive than Philly which might have been hard and I am not sure he was the correct answer for the team anyways.

Muzzin was I think underratted by many, something that people are fans outside of LA are finally starting to see this year as he continues where he left off. His offer sheet would have been doable and he is better than having Belov and Grebeskov. Muzzin maybe a 3-4 but he has the potential of being a 1-2. Belov is a 5-6 with the potential of being a 3-4.

Pietrelangelo would have cost us our first 2 first round picks, a second and a third. Question is would you trade two Nurse's and the numerous late round picks we got this year with those picks for Pietrelangelo? baring in mind we would had to have offered him over 7 million. Tough call. Not one I would want to make.

In the end our d probably wasn't upgradable considering the assets we had to trade. However our goal tending was. Duby had value before this season started. Miller was and is still available (also doing quite well for a team he doesn't want to play on). Labarbera signed cheap but Bryzgalov is a better goalie with a potential to challenge duby and he is left signing in the ECHL. I am thinking he would have signed a 1 year, 1 mill. Even right now we could still do that.

However our problem isn't all the players. We have to look to the GM and the coach. Why has Yak had almost no ice time this entire year despite his stats this year? How was he not first line when Smyth is? And don't tell me it was because Smyth was holding Hall's hand. We saw Hall out there, he looked like a guy that was playing on a one man line for the first 2 games. As for MacT. Why did we give contracts to Jones, Omark, Eager, and Grebeshkov when a normal team would have just gave them a tryout? Why did we sign a second fighter when we clearly needed a center?

Like always I say this is not just a player problem, this team is built wrong. Our D and Goalies were better last year. Our team was better last year. You have to look to Eakins and for that to MacT for putting in so many new players with a rookie coach and if you do that, you have to look to Lowe for putting a rookie GM in and letting him put a Howson in as a rookie to his position plus let MacT hire a rookie coach.

Then drafting a Dman was retarded.

Muzzin has played awful this year.

Also, yes. You pay that for AP. A 22yr old #1 Dman? You pay that without thinking.
