Not sure why you would say the Defense has been terrible.

In 3 terrible games this year our defense has been noticeably superior to last year.

The weakest defenseman we have is Justin Shultz because he is a liability in his own zone. But we are not going to replace him any time soon.

Not a single one of these guys have played poorly enough that any of the leafs defenseman would be a guaranteed upgrade.

Goaltending and Taylor Hall have sunk our team in the first two games almost completely on their own.

We aren't trading Taylor Hall either.

The leafs goaltending is also not good enough to guarantee an upgrade over Dubnyk.

If we are going to gamble on an upgrade may as well sign Byrz the lost bear in the woods for practically nothing.

I know Mac T is known for his quick to act mentality but he showed the proper patience over the off season. With what has happened on ice I think we have to give this team/coach at least 3 more games to show their stuff. If even moderate improvement shows in those three games I wouldn't be thinking of changing anything.

I don't see a trade happening soon. At least, I don't think a trade should happen. I'd rather wait a couple months for our goalies to bounce back, and our defense to settle in. Only guy I see getting moved is Nick Schultz with something else going the other way for a possible upgrade on D.

I disagree, I think Belov at least in that last game was noticeably bad. Everytime he was on the ice he was doing something stupid.

Only thing is, we do not have good LW depth either.

Reimer is the same as Dubnyk. If we are trading for a goalie, one would need to go the other way and it would have to be an absolute upgrade. So no Reimer, Miller poop.

And Yakupov is going no where. If he was it would be for a number one dman. No one has extras lying around so that is not happening either.

As for the type of D we would get? Its not going to be a Liles/Green type. It would be a two way or shut down guy.

People need to relax. All goaltenders are struggling right now. Duby let in a few very weak goals. Let's see if it is something that he can fix and get back on track. Everyone is going on about 15 goals against in 3 games. Well 5 of them should not have gone in. Patience.

Any trades will have to be contract for contract. No to reimer, phaneuf isn't worth $6.5m per year and I wouldn't give up a first rounder for him unless he resigns in edm. I am 50/50 in the belief he is the answer to Edm d zone woes.
