Lets not get to carried away buy a guy scoring 4 goals in a game that the Rangers were obviously not interested in, I can tell you right now, that if he starts missing checks or letting people away with things defensively he will find himself in the bad books with the coaches.

For me this year I am not going to get to upset with things and just go with it, going to be one of those years, I only really hope this year that Stafford goes, sooner would be better, Ennis is an idiot, thinking he can skate the length of the rink.

I hope we never draft anyone else named Tyler so this city can go back to normal.

I agree. At least we're in 30th and not 21st
- Buffalo-Sabres

I say trade Vanek and Miller for picks at around 8 & 12, draft Reinhart with our #1, pick up Draisaitl at 8, and Ho-Sang at 12. Unless we need to package the 8 and 12 together to move up for Draisaitl. Either way, that would make me happy. We could use a Deutschland Dangler in Draisaitl

It's not just that one game. The kid scored 2 the other night as well, and had a solid preseason. IMO, he's going to be the real deal.

Why would a non playoff team trade for Vanek and Miller?

Ho sang is bottom 20 and Draisaitl could go as high 4th.

Plus I personally think Dal Colle is better.

IMO Ho-Sang goes 15 at the latest, and if there is a team that disappoints, they are going to want that extra piece to get into the playoffs. Much like NJ with Schneider, only they wouldn't have made that move if they knew Kovie was bolting.

Are you saying at the deadline? Cuz I don't think anyone is trading a top 10 pick for a pending UFA on draft day

When Armia is back, this is what I want the top 6 to look like:

Vanek - Hodgson - Grigs/Girgs

Foligno - Grigs/Girgs - Armia

with something like Ott, Ennis, and Larsson on the third line

Yeah, someone would take that easily IMO. EDM was offering 7th overall for Schneider in a VERY solid draft. He may not have been an upcoming UFA, but I think that Miller is an elite goalie with the way he's played so far.. And that someone would give up a pick around 10-13 at the deadline. With Vanek, I think he'll warrant a bit better return than Pommer, meaning a top 10 pick.

Agreed. We gotta get the kids time. Dump Staff to a team in need of a 3rd liner for a 2nd rounder. Someone would bite.

Pretty much what i'm hoping for. Pick top 3 and get Nylander/Reinhart, trade Vanek and Miller and use any of what we get from them plus the three 2nd round picks we already have to get back and pick Draisaitl. Seems doable.

How? He's a good defensemen, just not great. He and the rest of the defense was fine again last night. It's not his problem we have 4 goals in 4 games. He played 23 min and made one bad play, and so did 3 others on that shift
- sbroads24

You are correct.
Myers , the defense and the goal tenders have not been the issue.

Finishing scoring opportunities is the main issue.

My biggest fear is that he'll pull a Lindholm like last year, and some bastard team will pick the guy I've wanted us to draft all year early...

It seems as if this team has flip flopped from last year. Vanek was on fire but our defense was horrble last year to start the season. Now our defense and goaltending is solid and we can't score. Just can never get on the same page

I blame Drew Stafford for this...... the disease has caught and now spread, actually I blame Garth for this, I think he first coined the phrase, "Staff Infection" or something like that.

Now that's some confidence

This is why I (frank)ing hate this team. San Jose has a talented, teen-aged C who's main component is offense. WE have a talented, teen-aged C who's main component is offense. The only difference is that we bury ours as the 4th line C with John (frank)ing Scott and scrub after scrub as the RWer... All while DESTROYING his confidence. SJ takes the logical approach of shifting Hertl from C to LW, in order to get him the most ice time possible. As a result, Hertl is lighting it up with the skilled players he needs in Jumbo & Burns, and his confidence is skyrocketing... While ours is being turned into a bust by our own coaching staff. You could see Grigorenko's confidence increasing as he got up in the lineup near the end of last year. He was getting the puck, taking shots, and making moves. Now, all he gets to do is attempt to block passes on the backcheck. For (frank)'s sake, coaches. Grigo played RW from time to time in Quebec, and our weakest area is at the RW. Put 2 and 2 together, and it's obvious that Grigorenko should be our goddamn 1st line RWer over Stafford. This team is too proud to admit that we are rebuilding. There is NO reason to have Drew (frank)ing Stafford put over our 1st round draft pick with 30x the skill. Rolston is supposed to be some developmental guru, yet he has guys like Porter and Stafford getting ice time over our prospects. Despite the ridiculously overblown defensive issues that Grigorenko has, he's a better hockey player than Kevin Porter. Period. Stafford may be a former 30 goal scorer (ONCE, ind you), but he should be on the 3rd line... even on this terrible roster. This entire franchise needs to wake the (frank) up, and get it's priorities straightened the hell out. Scrubs like Drew Stafford and Kevin Porter mean NOTHING to the future of this team, and yet they're stealing ice time from the kids... Absolutely mind-boggling.

/rant.

Hertl plays on their top line because he is their best LW. Tyler Kennedy is their number 2 so they are not playing him with Thornton and burns to help him develop but because he's actually good. Grigorenko is not better than hodgson and ennis so why should he play ahead of them or get more ice time? Just because he's 19 doesn't mean they should give him more ice time because they're still trying to win games

We can also cover some of the cap hit on either of those 2 guys because we're all ready planning to pay them for a year...."hey, random GM, goalie injured? How would you like this silver medal olympic goalie at a generously discounted price....for your top 10 pick?....think your team can make it to the big dance? you're gonna need goaltending!"
....it can be done if Darcy wheels and deals.

Hertl is a C playing LW (I think), and if Grigs temporarily moved to RW he would be our best RW too.

I have to disagree just because I haven't seen anything that says he's their best "RW". He has a lot more potential than ott and stafford but there's no reason to put him ahead of them. You have to earn your ice time so I just don't think grigorenko is ready to be a top six forward

You haven't been watching Stafford and Ott is at best a second line player. Putting Grigs on the first line (or even second) at RW would be much better than having Stafford or someone else there.

So, Explain Stafford's 20+ minutes to me then.
