Just to get this straight, we're talking about trading for a number one offensive defeneman and two of the names that came up are Tyler Myers, who had 8 points last year, and zero in 4 games this year and Jake Gardiner, who is playing third pair minutes for Toronto?

So now coots isn't a future selke winner? A player with much more scoring ability than he has shown so far? He's not a 1st or 2nd center on other teams? So you're starting to see the picture here? He's a really good 3rd line center with dhutdown ability and some limited offensive ability. So next time I say trade a player for another player maybe not laugh like 10 months ago when I suggested trading coots ( who was on the upside) for subban ( who was falling out of favor In Montreal) Oh and I also said trade coots for voynov just for the record because I'm sure la would laugh at us now too

I didn't say Couturier was or wasn't anything. He's a really good 3rd line Center now with shutdown ability and some limited offensive ability. But he's also 20 years and developing as a player. We'll see what he is in the future.

I'll paint the clear picture for you. And say this as plainly as I can. This is not playstation. It is not fantasy Hockey. You couldn't get Subban or Voynov for Couturier last year, or now! And young top defenseman such as Subban, Voynov, Pietrangelo, Karrlsson, and OEL are simply not available. Teams are not willing to trade them. It's that simple.

They could win the Stanley Cup and people will argue about the parade route or the best way to get into the city from the suburbs

The only number one dman who MIGHT be available and it wouldnt be until after the season would be Weber. And he would only be available if the Preds miss the playoffs and the team loses enough $$ to want to move his contract.

Let's try to land Connor McDavid

We may not be that far off right now. I keep looking at other teams and thinking to myself, "Can we take the season series form that team?" I'm not coming up with a lot of yes's.

You know coming in I didn't think we could compete in the East but they look worse than I expected. I'm sure they aren't going to be this bad all season but I'm not sure how much worse they are than I originally thought.

Right now, you can't look at a single game against any opponent in the League and comfortably state that we can take them.

Well I brought up Jake Gardiner yesterday because he's a puck mover that I think we could use but just to be plain, I would never call him a number one defenseman. He has a long way to go to get there. A loooooong way to go.

His defense game is an issue. He's got great wheels and skills. Has to decide if he wants to be an all around guy or Mike Green

I wouldn't be opposed to say trading Coburn for Gardiner. But that probably wouldnt fly with Toronto.

No, you'll post a package that you think will get it done. You haven't posted one reasonable or realistic trade proposal yet.

Right now they think they might be able to pry Paul Statsny out of Colorado so you'd be looking at something in that range. Plus you might be stuck trying to help them with their cap issues which 1. We probably can't and 2. We definitely shouldn't.

Well, sure they could trade a massive haul of assets, but does that weaken the front end too much? If it's a one for one trade, then at least you're not robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Well someone will probably call for my head, but I might make this offer after the season:
Both Schenns, Hagg and Laughton to Nashville for Weber.
